United to Outsource More Customer Service
This is a brilliant move Jeff, its worked so well in CVG, DAY, GRR, MDT, and SYR.
UAL guy told me a couple of weeks ago they are looking at outsourcing customer service in the hubs too. Just when you thought United's customer service couldn't get any worse... http://finance.yahoo.com/news/united...--finance.html The cities are: Albuquerque, New Mexico; Buffalo, New York; Charleston, South Carolina; Charlotte, North Carolina; Columbus, Ohio; Des Moines, Iowa; Detroit; El Paso, Texas; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Wichita, Kansas; Pensacola, Florida; and Salt Lake City. |
When I was little, I always wanted to fly for one of the two main airlines that came into my hometown, Northwest or United. Northwest isn't going to happen, and United seems like misstep after misstep these days.
|
Meh, they'll just continue the regional blame game. Everything is everyone else's fault but United's...

United to Outsource More Customer Service
Air101 - that's the most TRUE statement I've ever read on here.
|
As someone who grew up in a United family (Dad was a UA Capt) it pains me to see what United has become.

United" ...smile:)......"
Probably more quality service with Zw and eagle ground handling! Rejoice!.... |

The outstation can blame the regional and the regional can blame the outstation for the late departures. United reduces the payout for everyone and everybody (United) wins. Except for the passengers of course.

I was on a layover in HNL recently, and there was talk of out-sourcing everything there, which would have been a huge disaster. I'm glad they decided to bring some back in house.
Having worked in the DAL system and watched them pay the price for so much out-sourcing, I hope UA gets out of that mind-set...especially since I work there now. When the employees are not invested in the mother ship, the quality of the work definitely deteriorates... |

Sometimes I wonder if UA is aiming for Chapter 11 so they can redo their contracts.
Think about it if you're the CEO. Do you want to do 5+ years of meritocracy before things will turn around or nose dive in and be in/out of Chapter 11 in 1.5 years and be doing well within 2.5 years? |
This is the very problem with the bankruptcy laws in this country!! You should not be allowed to file chapter 11 for the purpose of shredding labor contracts and cheapening labor!!! This is exactly what American did! They had 6billion in cash reserves when they filed! In my opinion it's one of the most unethical things that they do and seems to be the only play in the whole play book that they try!

Um, they changed that law. It went into effect 30 days after DAL declared bankruptcy in order to dump their pensions. 2006? 2007?
