Got the call...
ASA called me two days ago. It took them about two weeks to call back. I sent a resume by mail and email. I'm a CFI with 603 total and 67 multi. They did a phone interview and then told me they would like me to come to Atlanta for an interview. They are sending me a formal application through UPS that I will have to send back to them before the interview. I'm really excited to have the oppurtunity to interview. I know there is a sim ride in the CRJ sim for the interview. I havent been in the CRJ sim since October so I'm a bit worried about that part. Is it possible to get some time in the sim before the actual interview? Is it possible to just sit in the paper tiger the day before the interview or something like that? Any tips on interviewing at ASA would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, UNDGUY P.S. I've been reading on this forum for some time. I've been waiting to make this post for a long time. I've seen many other people posting their "got the call" post. Now I have to make it count and get hired. Wish me luck |

Like the other guy said, if you have already seen the sim it is no biggie to do it again. You will remember what is going on, especially if you are familiar with the different picture of the speed and altitude 'tape' on the PFD.
Also, don't forget that the engines respond more slowly than a prop engine. They probably won't be looking for anything too fancy. Just the basics. Speed and altitude control and heading and altitude changes. If they tell you to level off at 5000 and then climb to 7000 change the power slowly and remember to not exceed 250 knots. Remember: The basics never change. Pitch, power, altitude, speed and heading control. That's it!! Good luck! |

Response to SJS Comment
No SJS here. I have my resume at Piedmont and I was really trying to get a night freight job flying the Embraer 110. Believe me, the Embraer 110's I have seen are definately not shiny or jets. ASA happened to be the first to call. I'm not going to say no if they offer me the position.

wouldnt say know if i were you either. best of luck, just remember to fly the airplane....and don't get caught up in automation or fancy buttons, when all else is questionable, rely on what you do...be a pilot.

I go to ATL in a couple of weeks for an interview with them too. Good luck. I am sure you'll do fine.

Piedmont Emailed
Piedmont emailed me inviting me to charlotte for an interview the same basic time as ASA. ASA has only told me it will be "the end of the month." Piedmont has given me a date.(Jan 30th) What do I do if ASA wants to interview me the same day. Am I pushing my luck to tell ASA I'm not available to interview that day? Do I have to pick now?

I haven't been in the CRJ sim in well over a year. I'm still wondering if I'm going to apply even though ASA isn't my first choice, but i'd still work for them.
