Bag Rather Than Flight Case

Hello,

I've tried searching for this so I do apologize if something similar has been created on here.

I'm looking to purchase a luggage bag/tote rather than a flight case to carry my two jepp manuals, ipad, and other small items. Does anyone have any suggestions on products they know of or have used for this need? I'll be purchasing the Luggageworks Stealth 22" if that helps making a determination/suggestion on which bag to compliment this with.

Thanks

Many of us at AA use the TravelPro FlightCrew4 Flight Tote. It's about the size of a kitbag, but is much more functional. You can dump the shoulder strap too. It just gets in the way. Crew Outfitters sells them for $70.

I second the Travelpro FlightCrew 4, or Crew 9, line. Got mine from LuggagePros.com and they price-matched a competitor. Might also try http://www.flightattendantshop.com

Just go to Walmart and get you a 15 dollar backpack , some ear buds for you ipod, some hair gel to make your hair stiff n straight and some dorky white shades to stick on your head and you will be a certified goofball rj gear slinger.Dont forget the clogs for your feet.
Certified doofus. I see them every day.Pilots with backpacks just looks unprofessional and retarted to me.
Seriously though if you're carrying jeeps I would opt for the luggage works flight kit, more durable and can handle the heavy jepps and all your other crap.Efk, them definitely something lighter and smaller.

Thanks, I plan on not looking "retarted".

Seems like the good move would to buy the luggageworks bag. Thanks for the input and advice on not how to look like Flight Simulator nerd.

I use a 3/4 size flight bag from Scott Leather. Too bad they don't make them any longer. But, I am a traditionalist. When it finally dies I will have a saddle maker make me a new one. Something are just worth it.

atpcliff 08-29-2014 02:40 PM

The handle finally ripped off my flight case. I got a backpack. It is nice, because if I want to carry it, it has a really comfortable handle, and if I want both hands free, or I'm going a long way, I backpack it. Will need to get a new one though, then I get my new 17" laptop...this one will only handle a 15" laptop.

There is a company who makes nice leather flight cases that are about a 75% approximation of the old scotts ones. Sucks Scotts is out of business.

I use this works well & is not heavy like the other flight cases hold a couple 2in Jepps just fine!

Big fan of the Timbuk2 Commute messenger bag as it has a pass through that slides right over the Luggageworks handle. Plenty of pockets and a zippered fold down compartment for a laptop and Ipad.

Come up with something original. The iPod, "hair gel" line is just stupid now. Hair gel? Really? As in LA Looks? What planet are you from.

Or get something like this for $29.99. Plus 11% this labor day weekend. I use it as my GA flying IFR bag. Fits everything including my, Jepp charts, bose Xcase and manuals inside of it. Not for everyone but for the money it was a great deal.

Who the heck is carrying jeeps around?!?
I don't think any kind of bag is going to do that job. :D

Please never type the words "flight attendant" in a pilots forum ever again. It's just wrong...

Does it come with the crime scene tape and the AR-15 mags and ammo? If so, I'm sold!

TurbineTime 08-31-2014 05:53 AM

I just purchased the strongbags summit bag and it seems to work very well. Fits all my jepps, FOM and other random stuff and is much lighter than all the hard cases I've seen. It's built well and comes with a few inserts for different configurations. You can also add a cooler insert if your airline goes the efb way. It was $70.00 from strongbags.com

Dunno, but for the love of God please don't show up to fly your RJ with your old private pilot Jeppesen duffle style flight bag. We had a guy that carried one of those for years. Talk about looking retarded!

Why? I understand what your point is but If that's all he could afford and it works who cares. The only people that know the difference are pilots. I rather have them show up with that than a backpack and earbuds on.

I used a leather chartbag, but I had the funds to buy it. I can understand how others aren't so fortunate and are trying to save a buck. Because we all know how great the pay is first year... and yes, that is sarcasm.

Best leather bag on the market. 100 year guarantee on all parts. This is full grain leather (the best you can buy). I have a belt, wallet, ipad case, Kindle case, and journal cover from this family business. He's got a video that shows his leather belts being used to tow a car. Guy even made a video (sarcastic) showing cheap imitators how to knock off his bag. Donates a bunch of money to charity.

Shop Leather Briefcase | Saddleback Leather Co.

I recommend it if you have the means. Only 2 weeks first year salary at Envoy (trust me, I know).
