Silver stripes vs. gold stripes?

Just another excuse to spend money!

deltajuliet 12-03-2014 07:42 AM

I think Virgin America is on to something and more airlines should take notice. I'm so tired of the grungy grey and neutral navy color scheme every seat, uniform, and airline use.

This is boring!

They're all the same besides the tail:

Now compare that to Virgin America.

They get it.

Who cares what the uniform looks like when 75% of the people are either obese, can't tie a tie, or have a shirt that looks like it's never been pressed and fits like a hefty bag.

You want some GQ tips feel free to put the cheeseburger down and PM me.

deltajuliet 12-03-2014 07:52 AM

Yeah. I think it's current, smart, sophisticated, and not bogged down in outdated tradition. When it comes to fashion, it's like the Google of airlines.

While I hate to say it, FB brings up a good point as well.

Firsttimeflyer 12-03-2014 07:57 AM

Now picture that on a 5'9" 250lb pilot. No tie to protect folks from button breaking the speed of sound when they finally pop off after a delicious mcdonalds double quarter pounder, super sized fries with a gallon of soda.

deltajuliet 12-03-2014 08:21 AM

That could be said of any pilot in any uniform, though.

Can he even go through the Emergency Escape Hatch on top of the CRJ? :D

Ramprat 12-03-2014 08:37 AM

Virgin's pilot uniform is a joke. The F/A uniform on the other hand..

minimwage4 12-03-2014 08:40 AM

It's so fricken ugly! What where they thinking? Oh wait maybe about their aging work force, gray is always safe. I like that potato sack dress on the middle FA there. That should look really good.

Just throwing it out there but upgrades would rapidly drop if people were required to make it out of the escape hatch without the use of crisco.

Timma 12-03-2014 09:27 AM

That's gonna look sweet with the bright baby ****** yellow safety vests when on the ramp!!

Probably since he'll have cat like reflexes to dodge the hatch from smashing his face in first

I don't see any aprons.

stoki 12-03-2014 12:46 PM

Americans uniforms have always sucked, and this new one sucks too. Love the blazer/leather jacket combo they will be endorsing crews to wear as well. Real "uniformity" they're gonna have going.

Lvlng4Spd 12-03-2014 04:35 PM

It's nice to see the leather jacket will be available again. You couldn't get one in recent times, so I ordered one of the overcoats. It was promptly returned, what a piece. I'd rather freeze to death, as they are way too long and a pain to carry around. Besides, with the double-breasted blazer look, I'll have twice the buttons to have sewn back on every other month. Thank you AAG. :)

I know what you are talking about. Protip: use fishing line with a proper knot instead of thread and they will never come off again. You're welcome :D

Or go to a tailor and have them do it professionally for $1/button like mine does. M&H quality sucks.

Virgin America flies crj's?!?!

Where have I been?!

dynamic psi 12-03-2014 07:13 PM

Hope they don't expect any of the crews to pay anything out of pocket for that crap

You would rather fly for Virgin because of their "smart" uniform rather then United, American or Delta? This place never ceases to amaze.

deltajuliet 12-03-2014 08:39 PM

Nobody said anything close to that. I'm only contrasting American's new mundane, dreary, grey uniforms to a much more vibrant, enticing alternative.

Those uniforms look good on the new hire's but what about the senior mama's that are 100lbs over weight?
