PDT Newhire

Just went through interviews with a handful of Jet Regionals, but decided PDT offered the best flying/pay/upgrade/benefits/flow combo.

New Aircraft being moved into the fleet don't hurt the prospects either.

Anyone started there recently? Class on 1/12..

Just curious as to how you came to this conclusion? Was it based on what the recruiter promised you? I'm not biased, but I was just curious as to how you came to the conclusion PDT was the right place for you...

There are many factors to this decision. Theirs was very different from the others.

It'll be hard flying, compared to button-pushing in a modern RJ. But it beats sitting on reserve for 6 months, or commuting somewhere inhospitable.

1st Year pay is about 5K better than the competition. Everybody is giving the same sign-up bonuses, except for Envoy whom just got desperate.

The number of people moving up/retiring is undeniable, I prefer a smaller list.

Airline Covers about 80% of Health Insurance costs, starting @ 60 days. Real flying benefits, not a program you have to buy from big brother.

There's also better compensation/accommodation during training, etc..

Yes, the recruiter was good. But you have to do your homework too.

Yes you might have hit it at the right time. Our senior guys are taking the flow thru and now we are seeing continuous movement for the first time in like 8 years. Really nice to see people upgrading again after all these years.

However I will tell you are schedules are beyond suckie!! So if you plan to commute you better buckle up cause it will be a rough ride. If at all possible you might want to consider living in one of our bases if that's an option for you.

Planning on moving to one of the bases as soon as I can choose which one.

5 of the last 7 years were just a freak result of the 65 rule. It sucks for the guys that stuck because of it.

I don't mind the schedule, seen much worse. Any other advice?

Enjoying skywest?

Anyway PDT is what you make of it. Great crews and that was a pretty accurate analysis. Schedules do suck though.

I can assure you that if you study hard, they'll try their best to get you through the program. Countless of us went through pdt training just fine.
