Envoy has over 2500 pilots and Piedmont just over 350? Do the percentage math and you'll see. That's why I was saying its better for Piedmont to not get any of the 145's and stay small.
Yeah, that's why I told him to do the math. And also pointed out that mainline carriers are not just hiring captains anymore. So its not all about upgrade anymore.

True and seems like JetBlue is starting to like Regional FO's in the fact they know they might have them for awhile. If I were a junior FO at JetBlue or Virgin or Alligiant I'd probably be updating my resume to the big 4 carriers as well.

Where is this hiring boom 10 years ago?????? arghhhhhh

Its probably way more prevalent at places like jetBlue, Virgin America, Spirit, Frontier, and Allegiant. And many of their FOs are being hired at DAL, UAL, AAL, SWA, ALA, and FDX. Maybe its going back to the trend of going from a commuter, to a national, to a major?

Wait, is this true? You're saying XJT lost close to 20% of their pilots this year to attrition?

PDT had recruiters on the day I took my ATP written at American Flyers in Santa Monica, CA and they were saying how first year pay actually ends up being around $40k for their first officers after all is said and done, which is almost double of what it would be based on the guarantee/hourly pay....

I'm just trying to figure out how most people survive the first year on $1600/month.
It really depends on a few things.. for years pilots got stuck on reserve and only got their guaranteed pay. But as of lately, besides being rare getting stuck on the ground all month, there's plenty of opportunity to take trips on your off days and make closer to 100 flying hours per month, and lots more credits since those extra trips are at 150% of your contracted rate.

Per diem for a 4 day trip should be around $145 bucks. Run 6 of those in a month and you have another Grand or so in your paycheck.

It's actually 783 pilots attrited from 1/1/14 to 11/30/14 out of 2643 that are on the list as of 12/1/14. So about 30%. Everyone predicts that will go up.

And you'll have no life.

The true measure of a contract is how much flying you do while also getting time off. The metric for that is total compensation (not just what's in your W2 divided by total block hours flown.

It does depend, but once online I always shot for at least 90 hours credit. That gave me an 1100 check on the 15th and a 1500 or so check on the 30th. That was take home pay in my first year at PDT.

I need to correct what I wrote. The total number of pilots (both sides) is around 4300 pilots. I incorrectly gave the total pilots on the ERJ side only.

It's fine, point is, they lost probably twice as much as they were able to hire in 2014, if that's a correct assumption?

2015 is gonna be interesting in terms of what regionals will do to attract pilots. Endeavor with the $30k retention over 2 years....,I wonder who's next...
