Yes, Piedmont has a base there. MDT and ROA are the largest bases.

There is a shuttle to the Amtrak station (or at least there used to be) in Middletown on the south side of the airport grounds, and it is only an 8 minute ride to the downtown station.
Not great news, but at least there is some type of transit to the more populated areas. Tickets are usually $6 and the trains run about once an hour until 2300. |

You need a car or at least access to one. If you are new and on RSV in MDT there are no other portions other than a taxi and those are very unreliable.

I'm just saying, don't knock it until you've tried it. My mortgage on a relatively new 4 br house is way less than I've ever paid for rent in major cities for small apartments. 10 min drive to the airport, pull right up to the terminal, no TSA. PDT bases suck to commute to, but if you live in base it's not so bad. That is one of the only things I will miss about this place when I leave. |
