Stay in School!
I saw this on Facebook posted by someone from Gojet:
Chicago O'Hare International Airport 5 hrs · "Well, for those keeping score at home, just timed out in Chicago. That makes it a total of 9 hours pay for 4 days of my life. What'd we learn today kids??? Stay in school!" That's right kids, the contract, or lack of it, determines your quality of life and your pay. If this person was a pilot at Skywest, or another reputable regional, there would have been a much different outcome. Until Gojet and some of the other regionals get a real contract (if ever), go where you are compensated for changes in the schedule. If these airlines want pilots they need to pay more than minimum wage. A secretary who can't type earns 50% more than a Gojet FO. A first year FA at Gojet makes $2000 more than a first year FO. They tell you how much they value you ! Ask them to show you the money. Ask them if they will fire you when you want the contract followed. Ask them what they did to the check airman who refused to takeoff with a 15 knot crosswind, without nose wheel steering, on an icy and snowy runway. The same with the other airlines. Make it a bidding war for money and quality of life issues. Ask them to answer for their past actions. Show them that pilots talk to each other and remember how the others were treated. If they know you care they will make a lot of changes. |

Here's an idea, read the friggen contract before accepting a job at these places. While all regionals basically suck, some are slightly better than others.
|
Dont get married to the job. Dont pigeon-hole yourself. Quit............as soon as you can

Honestly, what did you really expect? That everyone out there ripping on this place and it's contract were lying? Did you think you would show up and the place would suddenly get awesome? |

Just to clarify, "or another reputable regional" does NOT include Republic, since I've also had a 4-day trip go sideways and only earned 9:19 credit.

If AA passes there TA they will not get paid for a day on a 30hr overnight...

That everyone out there ripping on this place and it's contract were lying? Did you think you would show up and the place would suddenly get awesome? Seeing how BJ operated I just kept my mouth shut and did my job. They seemed to fire everyone and I figured my day would eventually come. It didn't take long to become a captain. When they shorted me on pay (which happened a lot) I said nothing; the pay was so low who really cared, I didn't need the money, I just wanted the travel benefits. Then one day they sent me an email saying that under the contract section xx I had to do yy. Since they mentioned the contract section I looked it up and it did not say what they claimed, in fact it said the opposite. I sent them a polite email saying that I looked at the contract section xx that they pointed out and it says I don't have to do yy. So they fired me. They don't care what the contract says. They don't care that the union will file a grievance and that there is a possibility that in 3 years you might get reinstated. They figure that you will go and get another job and make more money. Any damages you suffer will be negated by the increase in pay at the new job. They get the satisfaction that every time you have to go and apply for a job you will have to explain what happened at Blowjet. And, who would believe that they fired you for that? Fortunately for me it was all on paper so employers could read it and laugh. If anyone wants more info on BJ feel free to PM me. I will give you the full scoop, the Good, the Bad, and the BlowJet. |

This. Until moronic pilots stop choosing theoretical upgrades over quality jobs, we'll get nowhere.
This is very true. I made 34k my first year at a regional. While still pathetic, it's better than most other places. |
An airline created exclusively to screw pilots has screwed pilots...how is this a surprise?
|
What options do you have if there is no Union
For companies that don't have a union what can you do to fight against things you know are illegal?
Also, if you do have a union what if you disagree with the agreement they made with management? I just keep hearing about pilots complaining all the time about pay and treatment and I never see anyone do anything about it. |
People are doing something about it, they're quitting. 2 GoJet FO's in my class.

I have not heard any where near the horror stories about any regional that would keep up with GJ. Shoot, just last week there was a jumpseater who two legs it to work instead of taking the straight shot on Gojets because the performance of GJ is so terrible. And of course the first hand accounts of GJ pilots is atrocious! There is one reason GJ is kept around-to threaten other regionals to match their price. Nobody enjoys the Gojets debate. We are on here trying to warn newbies from making a mistake, and hopefully GJ will shape up or GO AWAY. |

Say what you want, but if you honestly believe a first year FA makes more than a first year FO, you're just spewing senseless nonsense.

Funny cause TSA has done a 180, has maybe the best management around and super high moral. You know things change.
And as it has been previously stated a turd is still a turd regardless how much it is polished. |

Did you think you would show up and the place would suddenly get awesome? i.e.: This would mean that no one can justifiably complain about any airline for which they work. Be it Fedex, Delta or Scratchy Express, the research should have been done, right? |

I take it you moved on to a major. So, why are you so bitter? You have no idea what life is like at TSA currently. I can tell you from personal experience that life at TSA is pretty good right now.
Because I worked for Hulas. You'll figure it out. |
