ASA Interview

Can current ASA drivers recommend going there? Does it look like contract negotiations are going to finish up any time soon?

How many days off for reserve? Why are they hiring? Are people leaving due to poor working conditions, or moving on to a major?

Thanks... fly safe.

rubbersidedown 01-13-2007 01:49 PM

When is your interview? I interview with them on the 18. My boss recently talked to the person in charge of hiring at ASA and he was told that they need pilots because they are losing theirs to the majors. So its good news that they are moving up and causing vacancies at a lower level. But, of course that is all hear say. It could have been sugar coated. Also, I have a friend who just got hired by them that starts orientation on mon. and he was told there was a 87% chance that he would be based and trained in LAX. FYI

I will be there on the 18th as well rubber. Did they tell you to be there at 1pm?

Hmmm. I'm sure guys are going to the majors, but there is also a lot of FO attrition.

MY ASA Interview

I'll be interviewing with ASA on JAN 16-17. They are putting me on a red-eye flight monday night from Los Angeles, CA to ATL gets into ATL @ 8 AM and my 3rd floor interview is 1 PM and if all goes well on 17 SIM RIDE @ 7 AM

supersix-4 01-13-2007 06:44 PM

I'm there on the 22nd.

JetJock16 01-13-2007 07:16 PM

Good luck guys, remember to prepare. When I interviewed at SKW there were a lot of guys that didn't get hired because to poor preparation or bad attitude.

My best advise, go in with your head held high (not cocky), be VERY EXCITED, be prepared, try to have a good time, interview them (make sure it's the Co. for you), don’t BS them, admit when you don’t know something, look professional (well ironed and groomed), try to get them talking about themselves and be very personable (to both your interviewers and fellow interviewees).

If they like you they WILL let things slide because in the end it comes down to whether they want to spend a 4 day trip with you and if you’re trainable. The right attitude will take you far!

I do not think that any of you will have any trouble getting hired. Heck if there is a way that you can interview today they may even put you in class tomorrow. Last week they were asking pilots in the crew lounge if we knew of anyone that could start class on Monday. They could only fill 17 of the 20 slots.

supersix-4 01-14-2007 05:28 AM

Thanks, I am excited. The possibility is there. I have been reviewing and reviewing. Getting all my ducks in a row...

acl65pilot 01-14-2007 05:49 AM

I do think that is SKW and DL do not sink this ship, the upgrades will be in the ball park of two to three years by the end of '07. There are many guys with seven plus years that are just waiting for their class dates.

Octobersky 01-14-2007 06:14 AM

Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) is not going anywhere. You hear all the "Doom & Gloom" and rumors about a sinking ship. The same, if not worse, was at ASA when George and John ran the place. All airlines have their good and bad parts. ASA is, for the most part, a great place to work.

I can start training Monday. Can I just skip the interview process? I've been working on filling out the application and gathering all the info required for a week. It sounds like as soon as I get it sent back in I should get an interview date pretty quick. Joe started to give me an interview date right after the phone interview, he then stopped and said "we've got some time, I'll send you the app. and have you send it back before I give you a date." Are they booked solid on interviews? Your comment about not filling classes would suggest that they aren't. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to flying for ASA. It really seems like they are headed in a positive direction for the future.

acl65pilot 01-14-2007 07:35 AM

I am fairly sure that you need to interview. That is something that they told me. They were looking for people that could come in on Friday and start Monday.

I was just kidding about that part. I should be sending in my app. Monday or Tuesday. I'm waiting on my college transcript to get here. If they want someone to do what you were saying why are they telling me "we've got some time."

rubbersidedown 01-14-2007 01:48 PM

That is true. As of Wed. of last week they only had 6 people to start the class this monday. They have since placed more people in it but I still dont think that it is full. What do you guys think about LAX. Does anyone on here know how long it takes to make line currnetly from the time you get done with all of your training?

bcooley82 01-14-2007 02:39 PM

I'm there on the 22nd as well for the interview.. I have some friends that work there right now that said it sounds like LA is full right now and they don't know if they will be sending more out there quite yet but who knows... it changes day to day I also know that there will be a class the 29th so it will be interesting if it fills up by the time I interview..hoping I do a good job anyway

WAVIT Inbound 01-14-2007 02:44 PM

I am interviewing on the 24th and he said most likely the 29th class. Heard LA is all out day trips so not to commutable. Can anyone confirm this?

acl65pilot 01-14-2007 04:12 PM

What you say about LA is true. There is one staged overnight to SFO. That is it. All of the other trips are four leg and two leg day lines.

rubbersidedown 01-16-2007 05:22 PM

Yeah that may be. But I would like to just stay in ATL. I interview on Thurs. and hopefully will get ATL.

JGonzalez1305 01-16-2007 08:35 PM

I have an interview on the 25th at 1pm. I was given 3 interview dates (18, 24, 25) and told that the first two interview dates were for the jan 29th class, and that the 25th was gonna be for the early feb class unless there were still spots available. Also mentioned was LAX as a possible and likely base.

As for LAX... ASA just added more flights as of the 12th, adding a LAX-PSP-LAX with an overnight in PSP. other flights added was a LAX-OAK-LAX-CUL-LAX flight.

In response to a previous post regarding legs and commuting, the average flight starts at 0700 (unless its the PSP inbound that leaves at 0545) and lands from Mexico roughly before 1700.

Hope this information is informational and accurate. ASA pilots stationed there feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

As for the Interview, those of you with earlier interview dates that would like to share information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Interview at ASA

I also have an interview on the 25th of Jan. If anyone has any pointers for me, that would be AWESOME!! I'm stoked about possibly working there. If any recent interviewees has any info, send it to [email protected] thanks and good luck to everyone!:)

flyinhigh6165 01-19-2007 09:25 PM

If y'all havent already....check out aviationinterviews.com it is free! Oh I am an FO here and trying to get a friend an interview. For all of you interviewing respond back about which base they give you. All of y'all are going to get the job if you are not a total dumbass and have a good attitude. As far as the sim just do your best. If you mess up the instructor will probably tell you how to do it better and let you try it again whatever the maneuver or appch is. Just want to see that you are trainable, desent scan, good attitude, and good CRM.

stangplane 01-26-2007 10:49 AM

anyone know what the chances of getting ATL as a base are?

ksna 01-26-2007 11:27 AM

Or chances of the lax base? If not a time frame to obtain it?

flyinhigh6165 01-26-2007 12:16 PM

Chances of getting ATL are good. LAX is still so new and a very small base. Heard it was filled up...but you never know....
