Do not come to GoJets

For those of you looking to come to Gojet let me give you a little heads up. I have been at this airline for about 4 years. At first as you can read a little of my past threads. It was a good place to be. It is now not the same. You want to avoid this place like the plague. There is no reason on earth why you would ever want to come here. Our DO that comes directly from Comair at first looked like he was going to do good things. But it is the same old BS. It is directly management against the pilots! There are no reserves, period! There is no time off! Period! There is no great schedules! You will work min days off and barely get min credit!!!! They want us to recommend pilots and bring people to the airline and I can not in good conscience ever do that. They will pay us $5000 to get you to come here. Stay away!!!!! Trust me go to anywhere but here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to think this place was great. I WAS WRONG!!!!!! LOOK AT MY PREVIOUS POSTS!!!!!! I WAS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

100% spot on. If for some reason anybody decides to still do it, DO NOT COMMUTE EVER! You will hate life even more. This is not a COMMUTER FRIENDLY AIRLINE. I am well aware that recently they have been offering hotels to commuters, however; that will go away as quickly as it came. Regardless of the hotel offer, you will be at min days off as stated above, and commuting on your days off will only give you two days home tops. If you live on base, you will be a bit happier and may MAY tolerate that place. DO NOT COMMUTE....God speed!

For the record... I have had off 8 of the past 10 days and I'm working for half of February, while on reserve. And I honestly don't have any complaints.

How the hell is that possible? Show us in your contract. Unless you are on a vacation period, this is BS. I'm so tired of the GJ apologist crowd trying to trick people into going there.

I don't know, I don't make the schedule. Not on vacation. I'm tired of the people making it out to be such a bad place to work, when they often don't even work here. Shocking, but I haven't had a bad experience here.

What are the days off for reserves at GJ? I think most regionals get 11 days off, and no more (except vacation, MIL, etc. You know, not stuff included in a normal reserve line.). Eight days off in a reserve line does not add up, or did you bid four days the end of Jan and four days off the beginning of Feb??? Which is also a *very* important little nugget to mention. You're acting like 8 days off in 10 while on reserve is just a normal thing.

I know it's not normal. And yes, the past 10 days would take us back into January so it just worked out that I had days off at the end of the month and beginning of this month. I was basically just saying it's not all doom and gloom over here like some say.

Don't be surprised if they start consolidation at TSH. If they have to compensate Gojet like everyone else there is no reason to pay for the added cost of seperate certificates. Could explain RL's latest memos on growth.

.....

People are happy there and many are not. Its entirely up to the person's personality, intelligence, and aspirations to gather up an opinion about anything.

I am sure they all had their reasons to defend their employment status there. In my opinion, those people have probably been there long enough to be upgrading or have upgraded years ago, or are brand new reserve pilots that haven't had enough experience to gather up any information. In other words, too much time invested to go anywhere else, and not enough time to know any better.

Favoritism does happen there. I knew of someone who never bid for open time (was a line holder) and all this pilot had to do was call his sugar mommy scheduler and let her know if a trip popped up with certain criteria, to assign it to him. I heard it from this person first hand but, believe what you want. This is an anonymous forum and for all you know someone from management is on here posting sunshine and rainbows.

If you do work there and somehow become bitter against that place, be very very careful of what you say to your captains. Yes, some love that special relationship with their managers and will stab you in the back. WHATCH WHAT YOU SAY AROUND CAPTAINS YOU DON"T KNOW.

I don't have any admiration for any of the Comair street captains that came in and took my seat, my money, my food, and my quality of life. Had they not taken the job, GoJet would of been forced to upgrade WITHIN by lowering their minimums. But, this was a company move and sadly enough due to the turd of a contract that was in place.

They will assign trips to reserve pilots prior to posting them on open time for line holders to have the ability to trade/or pick up extra work. Reserve pilots are happy because they get to fly but, are violating the contract and effecting the long term unity and chance of a successful contract in the future. Once again, short sighted versus long term.

The truth is that once this company gets the staffing they need, all these little perks will go away. To better make an educated prediction one has to look at the history of the subject in question. What this does is reveal a pattern and a personality trait that will never change. This can be used to predict what the future will bring to a more accurate degree. We all have to take risks if we want to succeed but, there are calculated risks and then there is stupidity.

Good luck to all.

What's current upgrade sitting at?

I tell the truth about what happened to me at BJ but my posts get deleted. Feel free to PM me. I can send you all the documentation one could want. If the moderator thinks my posts are inaccurate I could send him the documentation. Another good way to see how BJ treats people is to look for lawsuits that employees have filed, I should say x employees. Gojet was a good fit for me right up to the point where I politely pointed out something in the contract. That was the end of me.
There are real opportunities out there but I don't view this as a good one for anyone.

Pro/con arguments:

Pro: Newer Shinny Airplanes
Hiring always

Cons: They are always hiring because they fire so many people.
If you stand up and ask them to follow the contract you get fired.
If you get sick and have to use the medical coverage you will be fired.
If an FA comes out publicly in favor of a union he/she will be fired.
If an FA is severely injured during a demo when the tow bar breaks during a pushback he will be (was ) fired (check FA who worked tail off).
No trip rigs, you will work every day they own you just to meet minimums. A few senior guys might work a little less.
Ruthless bosses.

The mod staff cannot be on all threads all the time, but we do read user reports every day and take them seriously. No charge, limit or cost for making reports, so by all means use reports to improve the quality of APC.

Hey Cubdriver, this is the stuff that mods need to address. This idiot proves your point. Why should I have to fill out a report?

Actually I see nothing wrong with his statement. Why penalize a guy that is speaking the truth? Read up on the history of Hulas if you want to understand why he said that.

I am looking at this from outside for now, but I am definitely missing something: they pay $8000 to hire you, spend maybe 20 to 30k to train you and they will fire you so easily when they can't even fill classes? Very strange!

I asked for help on that thread and got nothing. My instructor told me to ignore that thread because most TSA pilots act a lot more professional than the ones posting their nonsense. I don't know if that behavior is typical of APC but I'll just lurk from now on.

That was the old G7. It's not like that anymore. Everyone on this forum seems to be living in 2005. I've been working here almost a year and haven't had a problem yet.

interesting, I have just run into a couple of your captains doing everything they can to talk their FO's into going to PSA or Compass. They had less than nothing good to say about GoJets and were actively pushing people away from it (probably to their own detriment).

I'm not talking about the BJ of 2005, I'm talking about the BJ of 2015. They didn't bother me for over 5 years. Then I became inconvenient.

I would not wish my gojet experience on my worst enemy in aviation. I've seen them ruin the careers of so many people and what's more is they take great pride in doing it. I have never understood why they did what they did other than to cheat some pilots out of a few dollars. It always seemed like they wasted more money doing it than they saved. But, I guess when you have 500 pilots and what you do sends out a message to all 500, their savings are multiplied. If 500 guys fly 2 days more per year because of fear of being fired if they call in sick, that is 1000 days more of productivity.

TalkTurkey 02-11-2015 06:55 PM

Guys, just come to a Endeavor. I mean this if you're an FO with two years or less seniority. You'd have nothing to lose, lots to gain, and a company that generally follows the contract pretty well. :)

Actually, being downgraded at Pinnacle sounds pretty sweet.

Keep your captain pay but also immediately have bidding power again.

Less responsibility, better schedules, same pay.

Sign me up!

Nowadays, downgrades are tantamount to a pay ares with the LOA that is currently in effect.
