Regionals with ORD bases

There was a thread awhile back with all of the bases for each regional listed... it seems to have vanished. Any help with this one? I know a few from looking around, but I have to try and figure out who is there and if they are junior. Picking the best of the worse it seems. Thanks

Sky West
Expressjet
TSA?

GoJet also has a large pilot base in ORD

SkyWest Airlines

ORD is SkyWest's 2nd most junior base. Should be able to hold a line within a month or so out of training. Second year pay $37.15/hr.

I work at GoJet. And honestly, I have no complaints. I have a good schedule, upgrades are 2 years, new planes on the way, spent 1.5 months on reserve, and the company has not screwed me. APC is not the real world... yes every job has its ups and downs, so people complain but you will find that anywhere. GoJet has been good to me. I'm glad I came here and I encourage others to join.

If I had to ***** and moan, yeah maintenance issues can be annoying. Big whoop. Do not base your career decisions purely based on stuff you hear on this website. It has the squeakiest of the squeaky wheels.

It's on this site... look it up. About the same as every other regional. Currently offering an 8k signing bonus with no contract.

Nothing even resembling cancelation pay. You'll lose that $8k signing bonus in flight pay loss.

And that's my point. Cancellation pay is CRUCIAL especially at a place where there's long stretches of inclement weather. When your company bids so low for the contract that they can't squeeze anything else out for the pilots...you have what we call a bottom feeder. Go to SkyWest or Trans a States...make a livable & respectable wage & much better contract.

This guy is either a management troll or seriously smoking go-crack.

chrisreedrules 03-12-2015 05:54 AM

I have friends at GoJet currently and formerly who would tell you to stay away. There is a reason it is considered one of the worst options for a regional.

Slim11 03-12-2015 05:58 AM

Delete the"?"...TSA does have a ORD crew base.

WaterRooster 03-12-2015 09:30 AM

Cancellation ot is a big thing I was looking at. I know Republic has an issue with that as well. Skywest would be good, but I'm also a Rotor guy and they give me half credit for those hours... Not cool. I appreciate all the responses! Helps give me an idea of what is there if I want to stick around close to base.

taters 03-12-2015 12:18 PM

Gojet will work with your rotor time, they did for an army copter driver but he also had some serious fixed wing time...all kinds of CXL pay in the next contract, that part is a lock

Oh yeah? What are your sources? All kinds of cnx pay? How many do you need?

Cancelation pay was the last thing TSA gave up during their last negotiation. I doubt they gave it up so easy to you

A few guys do get through unaffected. Not too many though, its more of an exception. And many just don't know what they are missing because they never worked for a decent airline. Most are fine until they suddenly find themselves on the street. It's not a good place to go, nor is TSA.

This is easily one of the most cringe worthy posts I have read on here.

Then where would you recommend?

srbpilot 03-13-2015 06:59 AM

the truth is there is no good regional out there. all the time till pilots bash each other on the forums thats how it will be. it gives power to the management. hopefully one day pilots will realize that, unite, and stand up together for their rights....its depressing but its true...be the best at what you do, get some hours and go somewhere else.
look what works for you and go for it...you are the only one who knows your final goal and how to get there.

At Gojet, it is not only how the company treats its people and how they have no problem stabbing you in the back if the calculation comes out that they will save a few dollars. The union has no experience, no backbone, no power, no backing from its members. They might like to do things but they don't know how to protect their own members. They don't know how to properly advise their members. The members are sitting ducks and the company knows it. The company has no fear that the union will take any action. Any action the union does take is ineffective and laughed at by the company. Sad but true.

FaceBiter 03-13-2015 09:10 PM

I'd rather slam my head in a car door a thousand times than be based in ORD. True story.

Amen. I'm here but been here too long to get out. I refuse to start over at another regional when I'm 6 months from upgrade here. So for now I go to work for 4 days and put up with whatever crap I have to deal with then go home. Just pretty much do what anybody else at any regional should be doing. Get your time and get out as soon as you can. Anybody at a regional for more than 5 years I feel sorry for. Hopefully that doesn't become me.

TheFly 03-14-2015 03:43 PM

SkyWest or TSA should be your options.
