FLL to MIA

I'm switching bases to Miami in April. I thought I had a Crashpad lined up, but just got told that it's still full. So, I'm gonna crash with a friend in Lauderdale a few times till I figure out my plan. Anyone have any experience with public transportation or car sharing or any economical way to get to Miami from Lauderdale?

Look up information on the Tri-Rail. It runs from West Palm Beach down to Miami through Ft. Lauderdale. The schedule isn't the best for late arrivals. I think the last train leaving MIA for FLL is about 930pm.

The other obstacle is getting to the stop from your crashpad. I'd suggest just taking an Uber. Hopefully it isn't too expensive.

That's the plan that I'm leaning towards, worse comes to worse I call in sick and go to plan C!!!

FLL to MIA

I use the TRIRAIL. It works perfect for me.

Brokeasspot 03-12-2015 04:58 PM

Jetty, about how long does it take?

FLL to MIA

It takes aroun 45 min from fort lauderdale station to the hialeah market/ miami airport. There are two apps that will help you alot. TRIRAIL and MDT TRACKER. The shuttle bus to the airport is the 133 (MDT App). I think 12 rides on the train cost around $43 or $47. I can't remember. Hood luck with your commute to the airport.

The FLL trirail shuttle is questionable on its time. I've had it show up late and barely make the train heading down south. The weekend schedule sucks so you'll find less frequencies either way. Plan ahead. Some companies have a trirail discount rate, not sure if yours does, but worth checking to save a buck

Thanks! Jetty was "Hood" Luck a typo…haha!!!

I'd give yourself 2 hours on the tri rail from the time you show up at the station, waiting for the train, and the ride itself. About $4 each way

There has to be more than one crashpad in Miami right? Maybe make contact with a few other airlines pilots.

South Florida's public transit system is infamously weak. Tri-rail is marginally useful. Life will be much easier with your own car.

Brokeasspot 03-13-2015 11:43 AM

I agree, I'm sure there are other Crashpad options. Just like having options!!!

Can always use Uber app in a pinch.
