Regional captain pay.

What you say regional captains generally top out at?

Around $85K, or do they see 6 figures?

Where I work, I know of a couple of very senior captains who made over 190k last year. Most of this involved strategically dropping trips and picking up other flying that paid out at 200%, or using vacation time and picking up additional flying then too. I'd say that if you just flew a normal schedule, a topped-out captain would probably make 130k or so with almost no effort.

9th year scale at SkyWest: $110,000 all inclusive (per diem, bonus, BHO, (a little bit of user time/vacation), etc.

Not a check airman.

We top out at year 20.

I'm guessing 9E Capts are making the most. Tons of premium pay + the $20K per year bonus adds up. $130,000 + easily if you are willing to work a couple premium days per month.

rickair7777 04-09-2015 07:04 PM

SKW check airmen right now making $120-140K (things are busy).

$100K likely by year ten for line pilots.

What happens after yr 4 and the bonus goes bye, bye?

RJ Pilot 04-10-2015 06:57 AM

envoy captains will get displaced to FO and they will keep their CA's pay. Id be fuming if I was an FO.

Goodluck!

With the bonus, the most senior captains are still down $10K, however the junior captains are up $10K from the bankruptcy loss.

At RAH year 11 pay on the 170 and I might be lucky to see $100k. No premium pay, no true overtime, paltry bonus. New CBA should fix most of that whenever it comes out.

as much as I disliked RAH, Captain pay wasn't really a complaint...anyone on 8 year pay will get close to 100K or more even without any premium pay, etc.

most 15 year CA were making 120K and the CKA were clearing 130K...I heard the highest paid was a CKA who made 190K but he was also in the training dept.

4 years is a very long time. I'm sure a lot of pilots will have moved on to majors. Wont section 6 come along around the end of the bonus LOA? If you aren't involved in the ME3 fight then you are worried about the wrong threat.

Aren't you still there? And this is after how many years?

Just because I state facts about Endeavor doesn't mean I'm still there. Look how often you post in regional forums, especially Endeavor ;)

Plus, even if I were still there, the next four years of major hiring is going to be nothing like the previous 4 years, you can't deny that….

What worries me is the sales job some of the 9E guys are throwing out there-- on something that could very well auger in and hose a bunch of people. It may turn around and I will gladly eat my words if so... however the certainty of turn around and bright things to come being sold by several on here is disingenuous at best.

I have valid, up to date information on the goings on, so why should I bite my tongue?

You are correct about major hiring.

You left? Where to?

freezingflyboy 04-10-2015 03:32 PM

I made just over $87K at XJT, excluding per diem. But that was reserve for the entire year. Only a few "premium days" (read rolled days off).

What year of the payscale was this on?

If you're making close to 100k on 8th yr pay then you're working your butt off. My W4 last year was around 94k including per diem and the "holiday bonus"...and that was on 10 yr pay. I don't do extra time.

Mostly 8 year pay.

Mileage varies. 9h year 170 guy. I've broken 100K the past three years with 110K my best all inclusive year last year.

Feng 04-10-2015 07:11 PM

What about the low end, people wanna chime in on that. I buy "winner" beer.

Name User 04-10-2015 07:42 PM

I made $45k in my first 4 months on reserve at AWAC. As a very junior lineholder I broke $100k easily without doing much work other than working the system. Lots of 18-19 credit hour day trips really helped pad the pay check.

higney85 04-10-2015 07:51 PM

Pay rates matter, daily rates matter, seniority matters. A junior guy (reserve) can pick up every legal opportunity but only break guarantee (overall) by a little bit each month. A senior guy can do better. Understanding the contract with pickups and swaps can also earn more. If someone wants to make $100K at a regional, it's entirely possible. Earlier posts stated $190k, which I know has happened at my shop (260k is the best I know of), but it's a high seniority guy/higher pay rate/working hard type event. Making 100k+ junior is possible, but qol takes a hit to do it.

There isn't all that much premium being paid, at least on the 900's. Besides, there is almost nothing allowed in open time anymore. If you want to pick up premium, you usually need to be willing to pick up reserve days. Fo... that's another story.
And for the record a topped out (12 year) captain on reserve might hit $100K if you include the full year's bonus money, and yes 12 years will have you on reserve in DTW or MSP. We don't get the "rolling thunder" or anything close to it here.

HeadInTheTops 04-13-2015 08:29 AM

On leaving QX, I was on track to gross about $120K (not inclusive of per diem, etc). 15yr. pay.

seafeye 04-13-2015 09:07 AM

$125,908 in 2014 9th year Captain

But 2015 will be much less after company put a stop on obeying the contract.

HeadInTheTops 04-13-2015 09:31 AM

Which company? Elaborate?
