crj 700 technical questions

"Use of the engine high power schedule switch light is prohibited." In any phase of flight? This is the "ludicrous" button when you dont want to hit the mountain and dont care about the engine right?

What is "cold soaked" fuel?

"Powerplant intermix operations are prohibited"? What?

What is an AC power center? Is that the TRU?

ON the overhead panel you can use gravity flow or crossflow. does the crossflow pump have an electric pump?

I don't know anything about the CRJ, but cold soaked fuel occurs when you have been aloft for some hours and the fuel drops to very cold temperatures. The danger in this is that the wing becomes very cold as well and even slight moisture will form ice instantly all over the wing. Usually there is a mechanism to keep the fuel from getting so cold that there is any chance of ice actually forming in the fuel itself.

I've been told that in addition to the risk of ice forming, jet fuel also becomes waxy at extremely low temps, leading to clogs. I've never verified that, though.

FaceBiter replied to Facebitten, just wanted to point that out. 1st reply and the thread has already come full circle...

If I want to avoid hitting the mountain, I'm going to put the TLs at the stop instead of fumbling around with the guarded PB.

Someone needs to study more, ask questions in class of the instructors and learn some basic concepts that are important for all aviators.

Not ready for your legacy interview quite yet...

it doesn't just have to be aloft. Winter overnights in North Dakota work just fine too...
