Best ORD option?

Hi everyone. I am new to the site and the regional industry in general. I have been on a few interviews and just trying to get the rest of my 1500 hours.

In the meantime, I have been researching and came to realize that there are many pros and cons to virtually every single regional. Whether it be fast upgrades, good contract, no cancellation pay, right seat for life, Only 50 seat planes, and so on. My question is out of the following options (in no particular order) which in your veteran minds would be the best option to be based in ORD and would provide the best QOL, best contract, quickest upgrade (hard to figure out the future), and most job security. I have to be based in ORD ASAP so these are the only ones I applied for. I understand that each person is different and what works for one may not work for another, but any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

A friend of mine was dead set on choosing a regional with a ORD base. Mesa turned out to be his final decision. Shortly after he finished training Mesa announced the closer of ORD and now he commutes.

Living in base is great and all but commuting is eventually inevitable at the regionals. We're all subject to the whim of the majors.

I've been at SkyWest for just over a year. It's a regional. Not sure if any is really any "better" than another. That said, I live a 5 minute walk from the blue line, got ORD right out of training (like pretty much everyone does), and was on reserve for one month involuntarily. Had a composite line month 2 and a full line month 3. Now fly primarily 5+ hour locals and get weekends off. Why did I come to SkyWest? Primarily because I knew ORD was one of their most junior bases as well as largest. Take this info for what it's worth. If you're interested in coming here feel free to PM me and I'll fast track things for you. Our Chief Pilot in ORD is an awesome guy. Probably the one thing any of us at SkyWest can agree on.

I've been with SkyWest in ORD since January. This is spot-on

True. However, some bottom feeder sleeze bag outfits close bases more often than others. Another true story brought to you by facebiter.

Seacrest out.
