XJET QOL Issues
Wondering if any of you guys can shed some light on Quality of Life at XJET. I have done two regionals so far so I have a decent idea about the lifestyle. That was about four years ago though. Mostly concerned with getting into EWR for basing and then how long on reserve, how much do they use their reserves, and what kinda schedule would I be looking at their. I get out of the service in about eight months and am trying to get back into the business.

well I have been on reserve for two months I am about 10-15 guys away from a relief line however I have flown over 71 hrs this month alreay
|
That doesn't sound too bad. I spent ten months on reserve at my second airline and flew about 100 hrs. Reserves part of the job but that sucked. How about getting into the base you want. Do most guys get where they want to be relatively quickly or is it common to get stuck where you don't want to be for a long time?

everybody got there base in my class as of FEB 1, we officially came on line right after Thanksgiving, so not long at all, ans some of us got it the 2nd month out of training. I have had all 4-day trips its been awesome, the agressive pick-up window is great (call the day before and pick up open time that fits in yuor schedule.)

I appreciate the reply so quick. Is the upgrade time looking pretty reasonable? I have a couple thousand hours mostly in turbune equipment so I think I'll at least get the interview. Would be nice to get somewhere where there is a shot at PIC time before too long.
|
well Upgrade time is when you upgrade, what I mean by that is you can "project" it but it doesnt do any good, I flew with a CA that upgraded last month, he had been there for 2 1/2 years. thats great especialyl at such a good airlines, Colgan guys upgraded maybe sooner, although there upgrade times has gone way up, but Colgan vs Exjet no comparison XJT blows them out of the water, pay, QOL, Equiptment, Routes, Per diem, etc. Don't go somehwere for upgrade, go for QOL, I understand you don't want to be at aregional forever, but there is goingtop be some serious movement in the next few years.

yeah you can't believe anything in this business until you see it in your paycheck. I spent nearly two years with one company and we were getting jets the whole time, never did happen. Xjet seems to be about the best for regionals so I can stay in the Northeast without a huge commute. Xjet seems like it will have a lot of growth with all the potential hiring at Continental.

At what point in the training do you usually find out where you will be based?
