Lack of Crew= Canceled Flights?

So..... just curious what has been going on with the beginning of the summer rush and cancelation of flights due to lack of crew? Has this been happening yet, flights being cancelled due to lack of crew? What have you been experiencing at your particular carrier?

I can tell you that the first time I've commuted in like 4 months today, LAX to Phoenix was cancelled. But they did put us up in a nice hotel with free happy hour so could be worse. Definitely having flashbacks to my days commuting as a regional pilot.

CPZ is crapping the bed on the DL side.

Republic was canceling more flights than anyone in the world for a few weeks. BB crawled to the legacies and asked for a reduction in a/c utilization over the summer, equating to about $15M in loss. Now we are canceling significantly less. BUT, as the bottom feeder, with the worst morale and contract, we can't expect to keep up with attrition. Our last class of 8 graduated 1. Meanwhile we've lost 1.3 pilots a day. "God Bless".

Not one airline is as short as we want them to be.

Not on the cancelation metric but our on time performance blows. The OP asked about cancelations. Compass is in the middle of the pack when it comes to canceling.

I'm sure pimp daddy D loves that y'all are asking to reduce flights in favor of taking more AA airplanes. Daddy angry.

Elohel.

Besides 9E, which DCI running flights for other airlines isn't asking for lower hours? If Delta wanted Compass all to themselves then they wouldn't have sold us off. Delta doesn't give a rats a**. It comes with the territory of no longer being a wholly owned. Your posts are so stupid.

Skywest canceled out of MSP last week, lack of crew.

We'll see about that....

Sounds like this is shaping up to be tough summer...has Mesa been canceling any on the west coast due to lack of crew?

I'm pretty sure that the reduction in hours is coming off of the AA operation.

None that i'm aware of, but we have canceled a lot for maintenance. We've done better in the last week with mx but we sure fly our spare a lot (every day).

What's the alternative to canceling flights? Nobody can staff more planes...

Bring this flying back in-house at the major level. Fly some of the routes on larger equipment. Delta is doing that already.

Eventually staffing issues will hit majors too, but not for a while. Additionally, there will likely be a loss of service to some communities and a loss of frequency on some routes.

The high quality majors aren't having a hard time filling seats in new-hire classes.

I watched a standup/high speed get cancelled last night for lack of crew, which they blamed on weather so they didn't have to buy hotel rooms. So you'll never know the accurate numbers of actual crew cancellations

That guy who tells his story of vacation and being on RSV is an idiot. Really you picked up the phone when you weren't working? First strike. Yet you fly back to work on vacation to accept a junior man? Second strike.
Aren't you part of a union? They can't just fire you.
Oh brother this guy tries to hard.

Fixed it for you. Maybe you didn't get it when she kept using her name Erika, or the picture of her at the end of the article...
