Jumpseat MTY (Mex) to the US
Hi, I have family in MTY and I'm looking to drive down there in a few weeks, then fly back. I'm a freight dog, but we have JS agreements with most of the majors & regionals. This includes 'international' privileges on UAL and ExpressJet.
I'm just wondering how feasible this would be for an offline guy like myself. I've heard some accounts of gate agents in Mexico being 'difficult,' or just NO ENTENDER how our JS system works. :confused: The other posts I've searched on this are somewhat dated. |

Pretty easy same procedures as anyother international location. |
Just arrive early just in case, MTY UA guys are pretty good, hopefully they haven't been replaced with the new UA "house cleaning" just give yourself plenty of time to list just in case you come across that one person that doesn't know what they're doing.

And with some airlines you can only ride in the back.

You cannot ride up front on ExpressJet... Only seat in the back will be your ride,

MTY have lots of pilots who jumpseat to the states, but they are from Expressjets aka ACEY.. if I were you, get an ID9 just to be sure... also i will not drive down there, EL CRIMEN its very bad.. fly there instead... my two cents. |
Just so I understand, as a non-Express jet (or other UAL codeshare) pilot, I'm basically SOL, in getting from Mexico to the US.
The fact that my smallish freight company is part 121, has CASS, and recip J/S agreements with Expressjet/UAL probably won't help. Does that sound accurate? I know I could just 'try it & see what happens,' but would rather get some idea first. Thx. |
You can Jumpseat if there is a seat in the back - you cannot ride in the flight deck unless your a XJT pilot.

You can not int'l jumpseat in the flight deck except if it's your own metal. So you will need to look for flights that have the best shot at open seats. |
