Question about driving record
 

Do companies require the 3 year, 7 year, or complete driving record?
(The reason why I ask is... I have one speeding ticket for which I did the online traffic school thingy... which means it doesn't appear on either the 3 or 7 year records... but it does appear on the complete record.)

One speeding ticket (non-reckless) will be harmless at an interview...unless you don't disclose it and they find out later. It is common for pilots to be yanked out of airline ground school when the background check turns up something they failed to disclose. If there is any remote doubt, tell them about it.

As a crazy teenager, I got more tickets than anyone would ever want to admit too. I wrote every one down on my app and had no problems at all. My record has been clean for about six years, that helps....

A few tickets will not hurt you, just be honest and get the details about each one. If you forgot, just call the police station where you got the ticket. They keep records for decades on tickets n such.

Last time I checked traffic school will only prevent points from being deducted from your license, but the ticket still shows on your record.
The main advantage of traffic school is that your insurance SHOULD not increase.
I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that if you get the 3 or 7 year records, you'll still see your ticket.

Nope, not in my state. Only the "judicated" tickets show up on the 3/7 year records.. the "adjudication withheld" ones (meaning the ones that you did traffic school for) don't show up.
And you're right about the insurance thing... insurance doesn't increase because they usually look at your 3 yr record, not the complete record.
Uhm.. so can anyone tell me what regionals usually ask for during the interview process... the 3, 7 or complete record?

1 ticket no problem. If they don't hire you for having 1 ticket, chances are you would hate working there. Be honest if asked about it and show you learned from it.
The only states I pulled records from were 5yr records. And they only showed stuff from that state. Now I think airlines pull the national record but I think those show only big things like DUI etc. I can't remember if those are 5 or 10yr records but I know you can get your own copy online. A complete background check on yourself is around a $100. It's nice to check and make sure someone hasn't used your info and been jailed in Alaska or something worse.

I have gotten two speeding tickets in in the past two years. I don't know if it will hurt my chances of getting a pilot job but I am so sick of Cops more concerned about setting up speed traps and creating revenue for the police department than catching some real bad guys. There is not a time that you cannot turn on the TV and watch news about horrible crimes, murder and drug problems and it sickens me that cops are more concerned about catching speeder in speed traps. Yes cops need to write tickets but in some areas in Denver it seems the spend more time setting up speed traps than actual police work .

Here's a real simple solution - go the speed limit and you won't get a speeding ticket. It saves a lot of gas too, and you will have the pleasure of knowing you aren't contributing to additional revenue for the town.

Oh, and no, two tickets in two years most likely won't effect if you get hired or not, especially if you interview well. I wouldn't worry about it, just slow down from now on. I always laugh at the people riding my butt when I go 55, then switch lanes and speed up to 65-70. 5 minutes later we are at the same light on an off-ramp.

Going the speed limit is the the best answer but speed traps just annoy me. It just seems like a waste of police assets.

Anyone have a good link or form to fill out?

Basically, how do ya get your records? Should I go down to the DMV and request it?
