farkin amazing. good job to that crew!

yeah. I can just imagine what that would have been like. Mountaneous terrain, unknown cause for engine failure, Loud EXPLOSION, and still they earned their dime,, and it is literally a dime. I just wanted to say that these guys proved that pilots aren't always a reflection of an airline. these guys where professional and were able to bring a severely damaged plane back and save the lives of 50 pax, 1 fa and their own.

well since that flight was probably a mx cancellation under mesa rules, they may not have gotten paid for that flight at all! god i hope they get a better contract, one that at least pays actual block time

Thankfully, a maintenence cancellation such as this ("controllable" cancellation) is paid...just not the "uncontrollable" types (i.e: weather, ATC). On the other hand, all of the flying this crew was supposed to do the rest of the day/trip would be dropped, and they wouldn't get paid squat for that. Hopefully, if that were the case, a Chief Pilot would step up to the plate and pay protect them for a job well done, and saving lives in the process. But, what am I saying...it's Mesa

I agree...kudos to the crew for making this a non-event, and not worthy of news consideration.

In my experience, the company tends to "accidently" mis-code MX canxs as something else (so they don'y have to pay the crew).

Pretty hard to gloss over this one though...

Like the other day when my ERJ broke and they switched it to a CRJ flight (after I was at the airport and at the a/c getting ATIS...etc.). What do they tell me??? "It isn't a Mx Cancellation, it is an Equipment Downgrade". It felt like a Seinfeld episode.... "No pay for you!
