New startup: GLO Airlines
Looks like they start up doing flights from MSY to SHV, LIT, and MEM with Saab's. I'm trying to find who is actually operating the flights. I hope they successful. Since moving here to MSY, it's the one thing I miss about being in a large hub. The lack of non-stop flights that take a whole day to drive, but also a whole day to fly because you have to connect in IAH, DFW, or ATL.

Who on this planet would fly for them?
Excons?! |
Yay! Another group of dirtbags starting an airline. How much will they charge for the chance of building some right seat time in a Saab?
The picture of the jet wingtip on their homepage is a nice touch. |
Not to poop on anyone's parade but you would have to be insane to work there assuming you view them as a stepping stone and not a final destination. If you want to move on to a major you are going to want jet time. Plus they may suffer the same fate as silver and great lakes. Might be a nice final destination for a pilot if you live in msy without plans of leaving. But I would worry about staffing the airline. Seems like a rough road ahead though.

just out of curiosity does anyone know the pay?
hopefully it's fun bucks for the strip clubs on Bourbon Street |
Another huge leap forward for our profession.

Why is that? Last two apps I filled out had a spot for turbojet pic time, not turbine time.

I heard, 35k year 135 mins for the right seat and in base every night. There are plenty of worse prop jobs to have and many of them have been around for a long time.

Yeah. This is exactly what the FA will look like after six legs in the SAAB in August.
I know a couple things about turboprop flying during the summer on those same routes. I also know first hand what a BE1900 smells like after a package of seafood is put in the cargo bin on a hot MSY ramp for too many hours. That "fresh and ready for the day" feeling you get after having showered and cleaned up for work lasts about two seconds outside. |
Anyone know how the schedules are structured, and avg hours flown each month?

Home every night. Generally 4 legs per day with an average of 6 hrs flt time per day. First officers are flying around 100 and Captains are flying around 85. When GLO launched we were flying 120+ a month. Currently hiring for FO's and Captains. Training is done at FSI @ HOU and generally takes 1 month. Single occupancy hotel, rental car, EFB's, etc. All positions are salaried and OT kicks in anytime you work over 18 days a month. My biggest complaint is that the average duty day is 10+ hrs. |
If anyone has any other questions about GLO just post here or PM me and I will answer what I can

There was a Sky Team in FTW back in the late 1990s. Their nickname around the airport was Sky Dream. Same group?
