Mesaba Recalling Pilots

Mesaba posted a vacancy notice today to recall 40 pilots. 30 Saab and 10 CR9. April class date.

We'll see how many they have to go through to get 40.

I would suspect we will be hiring new pilots by July.

schoolio 02-01-2007 10:10 PM

What did they do with the Avro guys?

So many questions. What happened to the CRJ pilots? Will all the downgraded Avro pilots move into the 900? Can they? Will they? Are there many left? Will new hires ever see the 900 or will they be SAAB drivers?

Stay tuned!! :D :D

Should have given the 900s to Pinnacle.

B/C we are already trained on the 200. Transition to the 900 takes a matter of days or hours instead of having pilots having to learn a whole new aircraft. If I am not mistaken, a 700 type only takes 8 hours or less if you are already trained on the 200. Pinnacle could have those a/c in the air alot sooner I would think.

So Pinnacle is going to magically be able to take on 36 aircraft without putting any new hires through a complete ground school? Upgrades also go through the same ground school as New Hires if you didn't notice. Wow, you guys really have it down over there. In reality, Pinnacle would have to lower their hiring minimums and also their Captain minimums so they could properly staff it. Or maybe just more pay and better work rules would attract some pilots???

What is it like 2 a/c per month? Anyway, I really don't care about the 900s, as long as I get to keep flying. Mesaba can have them, I do know of some guys who are really ****ed off about it though. And about the abuse you wrote about on a different thread, like I said before, it is a regional and I didn't come here to retire. All of my friends at other regionals complain about the same stuff. Just look at all the talk on this site, everyone complaining about something. I don't think I have ever read a post that praised their regional as being the best place to work. By the way, who do you fly for?

MESABA was, and will be again, a great place to work. We sometimes have little control of what happens around us or to us for that matter. But the professional deals with it. Any flying job is better then getting stuck in a cubicle in some obscure office. Every Monday morning ask your biz class pax how happy they are to be there. Complainers bring down morale; I stay away from them!

9E didn't get the 900 for better reason's then training. If you fly there, you know why!
If you don't know what they are, check into the last three years of the company's history. NWA is gonna hold off sending planes to 9E for a little while. Read your ASA.

P.S. Post Positive :D

Except that Pinnacle is getting their 200s out of the desert and these airplanes are going to Mesaba to replace the Avro.

Work for OO, not perfect but a place I wouldn't mind spending a few extra years or a career at if mergers/age 65 happen. Pay is alright, could be better, work rules are some of best out there, this month flying 68 hours, crediting around 100 with 13 days off. Mesaba if anyone should have gotten those 900's. Selfish to say that Pinnacle should have had them with Mesaba loosing all the Avro's. 900's and 170's are not good for anyone, unless they are mainline. The "quick upgrade" might not be so quick in the future, 1000 pic might not mean a whole lot. How much has mainline grown in the last 7 years? How much have the regionals grown in the last 7 years?

Does than mean in addition to getting the 900s (Press Releases), Mesaba will start replacing some of the SAABs with 200s ?

NWA MEC wants "flow down" in exchange for Mesaba getting 900s. Imagine a NWA pilot wanting to flow down to a SAAB ? Will Mesaba be an all CRJ fleet with somone else providing SAAB service ?

Who knows? But there was a pay scale for Q400's floating around. Some of MESABA's SAAB runs are real short DTW-TOL. We never get over 4000.

ctd57 02-02-2007 10:43 AM

Who is OO?

Well let's see, Colgan has a bunch of SAAB 340's and is continuing to grow and oh by the way, their new parent company also flys for NWA. Hmmm......
