Any word on when interviews would actually be though? Would they be delaying class dates til the CRJs come in April?

have you guys called everyone back yet? will everyone have to be dual rated? how are they going to divy up the crj, most senior or will it be like skywest and you dont know what plane you will be flying till you get your schedule.

The current (few) CRJ pilots are going to stay on the CRJ until it is sent to 9E in June. Then they will probably have differences training into the CR9. There won't be any need for dual rating since we will only have the CR9 to worry about. The right seat of the CR9 will probably mostly go to returning furloughs and new hires, since anyone lateralling from the Saab will be seat locked for 24 months. Some will, but the majority will not I suspect. With this vacancy, they are building the Saab numbers to cover training etc. 10 jet slots, 30 Saab slots are open. |

wow that sucks man. so a captain on the avro gets booted down to the saab a year ago, and now he is seat locked for another 2?! and the dual rating i was refering to is will everyone have to be checked out in the saab and the cr9? or will there be different bids for each plane. I hope it is based on seniority, i would be ****ed if i was a captain on the avro a couple years ago making 70 an hour, got dispalced to the saab making 45, and then be locked there for 2 years.

We are talking about Seat lock not Equipment lock. A senior Saab captain can and will go to the jet to recover the pay. There is no issue there. However, if a Saab FO makes a lateral move to CR9 FO, then he/she will be seatlocked as an FO for 24 months...cannot upgrade. For a majority of those on the list right now, upgrades are expected in 12-18 months. By the end of 2008 95% of the FOs at Mesaba will be new hires.
