Default ATP-CTP Course

I am attending the CTP course at ATP in ST Louis next month. Does anybody have any information on what this course is like?

did it a few months ago. but i was at the Jet Blu Orlando campus. I'd imagine they are pretty much the same. What company is sending you there? All in all the entire course is a complete waste of time and is a joke. There were clicker questions at the end of each topic. We went around the room answering them out loud one by one. Even if you slept through it you could probably get majority of the questions correct and if you got it wrong know one gives a single ******* about it. At the end there is a comprehensive test that we completed as a whole class together. (but the FAA thinks we all took it individually and got 100%) The class goes from 8-5 and takes the entire time! Sucks because we could finish the entire 3 days in 1 day but its mandatory to be in the class the entire time. So there is a lot of old stories from the instructor and lots of "5 min" breaks that last 15 minutes every hour. During my time I had my laptop up and pretty much focus on my fantasy football leagues and draft kings.

I just started indoc for my new job, but the pilots that did not have the written taken were sent to Houston for the company ATP-CTP course. A lot of the items we cover in the 4 days of class room stuff, we are covering in the first week of indoc. As for the sim portion, if it's for an airline, just think of it as a chance to get an additional 12 hours of training in your aircraft before you actually start formal training. The instructors know that this does not have anything to do with the ATP test, so they try to make it a learning experience for your new job. The course is designed more as a tool to help GA pilot learn the basics of transport aircraft characteristics and transition into their new career as a airline transport pilot. If you are lucky enough to have the company pay for it and be paid while in training, just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Has anyone done the ATP course at CAE DFW? I'm going there in a couple weeks. Wondering if there's any studying I need to do ahead of arriving

Are you guys doing the higher power on your own or did someone pay for you to come? I can use my va benifits to attend it, even tough I know some regionals pay for it, I thought it might be easier and less stressful to get it and the written out of the way prior to ground a school

93Sierra,
I am using my GI Bill for it. Pretty easy process at check in as long as you have the required Certificate of Eligibility (took 4 weeks once I requested it on VONAPP). Honestly, I want to maximize my chances of getting hired by a Major. Today was an 8 hour day of aerodynamics refreshing and Unusual attitudes stuff. Decent refresher, but I feel I could have benefited from some different subject matter. Old videos from the 80s/90s didn't help my attention span. I hear the next few days gets better. Plenty of time at night (sans wife/kids) to study for the written.
