Was it that obvious?! I might get a candy bar from HR if I help the process.

How is your QOL over there? Do you have a lot of commuters?
|
Lots of commuters. We do have the commuter clause in our contract as well.
Our work rules have always been towards the top as far as Regional CBAs go. Our pay took a hit due to the bankruptcy, but the "kickers" in the TA will help to recover some of that loss now that we have growth. NWA has unlimited jump seats now so that helps. Pay will start at $22.81. Increase to $23.38 in December, and then to $28.03 on your 1 year longevity increase. (It's a blended rate, so same pay for Saab and Jet FO.) Per Diem is $1.55, minimum day is 4 hours, 11 days off for lineholders and reserve. Let me know what else you care to know. |

Also how long for an upgrade? |
Maybe you could give me an idea of what the commuter clause is about. I live in state and have a 3 hour drive to DTW. I am looking to stay in-state so how do people like DTW for a domicile?
Thanks. |

There is a very good chance that everyone on the seniority list now will upgrade in 12-15 months. The first 50-100 new hires could see upgrades in 2 years. The rest, it could go up to the typical 5-6 years. Mesaba has always had a reputation of being a good place to hang your hat, so senior pilots tend to stick around. If hiring stays stong at larger carriers, our attrition should continue at 5-10 a month. You would be picking Mesaba for QOL and bases, not quick upgrade times. |

Thanks. Our reserve call out is 90 minutes, we have no long-call reserve. If on reserve, you have to be in the crew room in 90 minutes from the time you are called. For commuting (flying), you have to list yourself for at least 2 flights that BOTH get you to your domicile by your show time (1 hour prior to departure). IF you cannot get on either, you can "call in honest" and scheduling with either positive space you on the next flight, or take you off the trip until such time as you can catch up with it. You are allowed to excersize this option either once or twice (I forget which) in a twelve month period. Commuter clause won't help you if you are driving in from 3 hours away. |
