bridge programs Question??
 

I was just curious, there has been a lot of talk and hype about high washout rates in some of the regional classes latley..to all of you that have been through 121 new hire process did you notice that there were a lot of guys+gals from different bridge programs. if so how did they work out. Were they able to hold there own?? or are the among the ones getting washed up. There mins are dropped quite significantly as apposed to the regular published mins, so i was just wondering how they hacked it.. :confused: :rolleyes:

We had several bridge program guys in my class...but our bridge program still required them to have 1,000/100 (it beats 1500/300 though). They held their own pretty well and no one went the way of the buffalo.

The people from bridge programs don't tend to have as much of a problem as a CFI who gets hired with 500 TT. Those bridge programs are set up to teach them CRM skills, etc. from the very beginning. Although, I'm sure people who come from bridge programs do wash out, I would say the percentage is not very high.

The bridge program can teach switchology and some cockpit procedures, but cannot teach real-world IFR (there are shades of grey to be found in the real system) and IFR communications...only actual flight experience can do that.

Low-timers in general (including bridge types) are more likley to have problems on IOE, with communications and visual approaches, especially in a jet that does not slow down just because you wish that it would!
