Race to the bottom explained.

The video is an hour and ten minutes long. Watch the whole thing, or watch a few minutes. It is not political. Just an explanation of why we are where we are today.

WesternSkies 05-16-2016 09:48 AM

Also on Netflix.
2 thumbs up

FlyingKat 05-16-2016 10:11 AM

Saying Noam Chomsky isn't political is like saying Bill Clinton is a virgin. He is full of sh*t.

This would be a correct statement if the content of the video wasn't true or if those things weren't actually happening. Sadly, they are. I mean we basically just signed an agreement that gives corporations power to sue a government if the law of the land hurts the corporation in any way.

Your video is full of Chomsky's usual left wing bullsh*t.

bnkangle 05-16-2016 10:55 AM

I watched two minutes and turned it off when he started talking about how great inequality is these days. Nothing but typical liberal, socialist rhetoric.

FlyingKat 05-16-2016 11:06 AM

Chomsky...typical do as I say, not as I do left wingnut....

Noam Chomsky, Closet Capitalist | Hoover Institution

FirstClass 05-16-2016 11:27 AM

Where's the good part of the video?

Flightsoffusion 05-16-2016 11:30 AM

Looks like it was pulled down anyway..

Can't handle reality?

haha Intersting.
The header on your article is this. ""The most important intellectual alive" is a pathological ayatollah of anti-American hate -- and the leader of the treacherous fifth-column Left."

He addresses in the movie the powerful tool of calling somebody "anti-American" and other such tactics.
Very interesting. He was spot on that I guess.

This. Plus Horowitz is an older, wrinklier version of Ann Coulter.

More like I choose not to listen to a fallacy called propaganda.

Maybe we should go back Jim crow or revoke womens' right to vote or prevent minorities from having access to education. Then we can talk about inequality. You're a product of your own decisions.

Noam Chomsky is worth well north of $2 million and heavily invests in all these "evil" institutions he rants against. He copyrights all his stuff and will sue anyone who violates these copyrights. Capitalism has been pretty good to him.

I found that part sad and hilarious at the same time. Apparently pointing out a problem and possibly offering solutions as to how to fix it makes you a commie and a terrorist these days. Sad part is, most people that don't see what's actually going on are going to wake up one day when it's too late. Can't say I won't be saying I told you so.

Who cares? Why not just listen to the message? It could be Kermit the frog talking in the video, does it make a difference?

Rotors2Planks 05-16-2016 12:21 PM

It's entertaining to listen to pilots moan about equality and social movements and yet they pay their own money to line up in droves at Gay and Women pilot conventions...

Actually I think I've got some Native American in the family some where. Maybe I can pull an Elizabeth Warren and use that to get to the top of the UAL pile. Privilege my @ss.

The problem with an ideology is that even if you have all the facts on your side you will never be able to have a reasonable and open discussion regarding the facts because the other side will see it as a personal attack on them and what makes them who they are. Death penalty, abortion, politics, and religion didn't used to be ideologies but isn't it funny that all 4 of those topics are now so tied in with politics. Just because you don't like the message doesn't make it false.

Sad part is, we will have to wait till the next "recession" to have more people wake up to the fact that we're being systematically robbed of our livelihood. They can only take so much until there is nothing left though. The 1% has 51% of the worlds wealth right now and it is exponentially increasing. What happens when the 1% has 99.99999% of the world's wealth? If you ain't in that club, things aren't going to be pretty for you. Well, more likely for your children and grandchildren.

I honestly have to thank Doug Parker for waking me up. I mean to have a guy threaten to take your job away if you don't give him more money during record profits is greed on a whole new level. While running to the bank with a huge bonus. They atleast had a choice, and voted the wrong way. Millions of hard working people do not. They have concessions shoved down their throat without question.

No, I didn't work for any of those WO carriers.

Xtreme87 05-17-2016 06:55 PM

The video link no longer works, but the documentary is called Requiem for the American Dream. I guess it's on Netflix too.

This thread is the best explanation for the race to the bottom.

Well said.

bedrock 05-17-2016 11:46 PM

The race to the bottom is the new colonialism. The 1% are the kings who decide where to deploy their forces in order to extract the wealth of their victims. Only the forces are financial and economic and the victims aren't some natives in Bwanaland, but the middle class of this country.

It used to be called Mercantilism, now it's called "Free Trade". It anything but.

GogglesPisano 05-18-2016 04:50 AM
