Best Pick for Ny Base?
I took a year off from the airlines.. I want to return around September.. Whats looking like the top picks for Ny right now? A Ny domicile is definitely a win win for me.

Before someone comes on and says "you should have used the search function", you have Endeavor, Envoy, Republic, and probably several others in the NYC area. I'm with 9E but not in NYC. If I was in your shoes 9E would be my first choice because of how good things are going here right now.

Since you have 121 time, I would suggest CommutAir. You start at 51k the first year, if you decide not to upgrade. Otherwise, it will be around 60k the first year. You can upgrade out of ground school and have a decent schedule being EWR based, since it is the most junior. 9E is a close second in career progression and pay, right now. I guess it boils down to Delta vs. United. |
$51K first year? How did you come up with that figure? Maxing out both bonuses would put a new FO around $54K for first year, but what happens second year?

There are many factors you have to decide what is the main priority.

There's been a lot of these popping up but feel free to message me for some rah info. Cheers.

Endeavor.
One year upgrade or less |
Commutair. Math right now looks favorable. I have 14 below me and got hired in April.

Endeavor is putting CRJ200s in New York with a dedicated base end of summer, so we are likely to see plenty of new seats there. LGA and JFK possible on both 200 and 900.
Commutair looks good if you'd prefer EWR. |

Endeavor. If you got hired in April you'd already have 60+ below you and a $3k check when you finish training.

After year 1, they will be on captain pay, so either 58k or 63k per year with an increasing pilot group behind them. IMO CommutAir is the best choice out there for United. If you want Delta, go to 9E. |
|
And only about 80% of those are making it thru training, so call it 40 per month.

I see how you got that, but I was thinking more along the lines of $36 * 75 a month = $32,400. Throw in some extra hours of flying, and maybe $600 a month for per Diem, and you are up to $39K +15K = $54K. And not too many folks are able to get 1,000 121 time in their first year. I think the average is more like 16-18 months?
But you are correct that Commutair is about on par with Endeavor as the highest paying contract airlines out there for first-year FOs. at $54K and $57K respectively, only flying guarantee, and a CA upgrade as soon as one hits 1,000 121 time, they are the ones against other should be measured by. IFF one lives in one of their bases. The industry is definitely changing for the better. About darn time, too!

$36 per hour from day 1 at training. Basically take your hourly rate times 1000 for a rough estimate in earnings combined with per diem. So, 36k + 15k bonus = 51k.

Question, @ CommutAir, if you have the option of the -8 or the ERJ 145, which is a better option? Pay scale for FO is the same.
