Eagle divert

Anyone have any info on the Eagle flight that diverted from XNA a couple days ago and landed on a 4000' GA airport?

Couldn't get in to destination, went to alternate with weather approaching. Got windshear alerts, couldn't land. Tried to go elsewhere, got trapped by popup thunderstorms. Landed at offline airport due to fuel emergency.

Did the best they could with the situation they were handed. It's a really tough spot.

Wow, tough spot. Attaboy/ or girl to the pilots.
I want my family to fly with pilots who can make the tough calls.

I see, good decision. Bet that was fun flying it out. Hope the Co doesn't give him/her any crap about it. Heard they bused the passengers to XNA?

Crew did a fantastic job. Experience matters!

Great pilots do not let themselves get in that position.

WS can easily pop up with no forecast. Sounds like circumstances to me.

Landing at a non-121/OPSPEC airport is not inherently dangerous if you have the required length and width of runway for the conditions. Big difference is that it may not have ARFF on-site but odds are low that you'll need them.

If a particular airline made a habit of this sort of thing, then there might something wrong with their dispatch process, ie skimping on fuel to save money.

Were you there?
Yeah, didn't think so. Go have a steaming cup of [mocha latte with virgin polar bear milk].

How many times have you been dispatched and there was no forecasted WX that turns out not to be the case? Maybe you should educate yourself on what actually happned before you make an asinine statement. Something about people who live in glass houses and throwing stones comes to mind.
The crew did a great job given the circumstances.

There were no storms predicted at all? Hmm. I am looking at it on FlightAware right now. There were in fact TAF's predicting the storms earlier that day.

Im just saying that if you do not have the gas to get in and out, and then to a GOOD alternate, then don't try.

There are thousands of professional pilots that fly 20,000+ hour careers and have never gotten close to this situation.
