Why get mad at pilots for picking up trips? If there's no leadership coming from the union or an actual movement from the pilot group what makes you guys think complaining about it on the forum is going to change anything?
My view point is this, if there is a way for you to make more money or to get out of here quicker, do what you have to do. Industry standard pay is just under 200% pay for Mesa pilots anyway. If on the other hand, your regional council's strategy is to put more pressure by not picking up trips, then you take the hit and follow your MEC.

The union can't say to not pick up trips. That's an illegal work action. Some things pilots just have to figure out on their own. I wouldn't expect mesa pilots to figure that out or care though. They are all just trying to gtfo and/or make a livable wave. We have the same problem at JetBlue. Pilots care more about themselves short term than making the place better long term.

You've got to be kidding me. It took me literally 60 seconds to find it in the Mesa contract:
13.B.2 "...If additional IOE check airmen are needed,
then FOs awarded trips with such check airmen will be reassigned
per this agreement or released and pay protected."
AND
13.F.1 "The Company may reassign a pilot during the trip-pairing Footprint."
13.B.2 "...If additional IOE check airmen are needed,
then FOs awarded trips with such check airmen will be reassigned
per this agreement or released and pay protected."
AND
13.F.1 "The Company may reassign a pilot during the trip-pairing Footprint."
1) A flight cancels (GOM then requires you to call them in this case, and they can tag you with a reassignment)
2) A Mesa employee/CP/etc. verbally notifies you at the gate or in the airport
3) You're dumb enough to answer your phone, self-notify in crewweb, and/or call them back
My suggestion to any lineholder would be to print off your trip on day 1, turn off your phone (or put it on do not disturb), and only make positive contact with the company if a flight cancels. That was SOP before smartphones turned us all into neurotic information-checking machines.
If Mesa wants lineholders to be contactable via phone during their pairing footprint, that's perfectly reasonable in this day and age. But they would need to negotiate that as part of a comprehensive CBA agreeable to the MEC and membership

Remember, CT will tell you that you are "junior assigned" and you have to accept it since it's a junior assignment. Remind them there is no junior assignment. There is junior available. You do not have to accept a junior available. Politely explain the difference between a junior assignment and junior available and that you're not available. There's absolutely nothing they can do about it. They will tell you they will give you a UJA (unavailable for junior assignment). It doesn't mean a thing. Management cannot use it for anything. The only reason I can think of for a UJA is intimidation and manipulation of the weak minded.

If I wanted to go back to flying a regional jet or light twin, I MIGHT consider it, but I don't. Sorry, from where I sit, and the QOL I have, I would say no thanks.
International cargo is the best gig in aviation. 717? MD80? From a 747? You're joking, right?

what's going on w/ Captain upgrades lately???
Obviously I can't name names… but perusing the bid awards, and seeing certain faces around in DFW… there at least 5 that I *know* were in Captain upgrade training for either the CRJ or the E-jet, a few months ago… and they're back in DFW w/ 3 stripes.
Naturally, you *want* to ask, "what happened?" (not to make fun or embarrass, but to find out why so you can be more prepared yourself), but of course you can't unless they want to volunteer info..
