Question for those with XJT

I currently have 1000tt and 70 multi, is XJT strict with their mins? I have an aztec that I could use to build time but I might need a "safety pilot" to defray the costs. How do they look upon that?

pretty sure the interview selections are computer based, and you need to meet the minimums. most attempts to go around the online app have been unsucessfull. get the extra 30 hours, safety pilot time should be fine.

how much does that aztec run you an hour and where in the country are you located? always looking around for someone to build some multi time with if the price is right!

thanks for the advice, needed to make sure i wasnt hurting my chances.

the wichita-salina (ks) area, i cut a deal with the owner for 75/hour dry, figure about 30gph @ $4 comes out to about $200/hr. I can usually get it lower since time is the issue. (30gph balls to the wall).

Lean that airplane out...more bang for the buck.

Aren't you a pilot? You should have thought of this by now.

kill the engine with the hour meter on it, fly around single engine=Free multi time while "practicing" single engine ;)

I think it's ironic that pilots that complain about pay and the "race to the bottom" will also try and pull one over on the owner of a rental aircraft.

Also, if memory serves me correctly, most of the Aztec's (and Pipers in general) hobbs meters were run off the master switch, so flying single engine wouldn't help. If you turn the master off, however it would stop the hobbs.

In the Beechcraft products I've flown the Flap CB stopped the hobbs.

in pipers it runs off an oil pressure switch in the right engine.

oh i thought about that one, that is the max. cost per hour.

Not all. The seneca, arrow, and aztec I flew it ran off the master. Maybe new pipers do, but my guess is this aztec isn't so new :).
