Question ANR vs. Telex 750

I'm thinking of splurging on an ANR headset (currently use a 750). No hearing problems but I'm hoping to reduce fatigue on long days...and a few of our airplanes have those fat windshield wipers that get real loud > 250kts.

Is the Telex 850 much better than a 750 as far as background noise?

Anyone experience less fatigue using ANR's (or clamps) compared to lighter jet-style headsets?

Thanks!

I use the 850 on an Airbus and the reduction in noise is incredible.

Most places have a 30 day trial period, so, if you want the lightest ANR out there (and one w/ no batteries) I'd suggest you give it a shot.

I have heard that the 850 = 750's plus ear plugs. I ended up keeping my Bose unit while trying to fiddle around with a ear-mold + Plantronics Mic combination. I'm still trying all different things right now, and the 850s definitely seem pretty awesome. I just can't see it being that much better without the use of batteries. My friends who use the 850 love them though.

I definitely feel a lot better using an ANR headset. But I was comparing them to the DCs on board the aircraft. The mic combo that I was using was probably the best, but the noise attenuation is still the best with the Bose.

Got a like-new Sennheiser 25KA off eBay for less than $300...some of the best money I ever spent.

Yes to both. $20-25 will get you a quick charger and 4 rechargeables and you'll be good to go.

Rick, I used the 850's in the 200/700 and they worked great. Give me a few weeks and I'll let you know about the 757/767.
