Mesa in China update?
I'm just curious about what steps have been taken with Mesa in China. I haven't heard anything since the initial news and was wondering if things have stalled or if they are moving forward. I've seen A LOT of CFI request from china lately to teach their people at several places. They are paying pretty decent too. 2k a month to be a CFI with living paid for, uniforms covered, ect. Just wondering if this has something to do with Mesa kicking it that way or not. I can't imagine the country training them for anything bigger.

It is proceeding, I think operations will start within a year.

This is J.O.'s wet dream! Non-unionized cheap labor, in a place where it is an "honor to work 6 days a week"...that quote came from a good friend of mine former citizen of China. Basically no FAA rules and no union, he'll probably charge those poor guys to fly.

Well, I personally think this is his new freedom for contract negotiations this fall. He doesn't care that we aren't winning any new flying because he already has homes lined up for those aircraft. I have also heard (rumor) we are not sending any of our pilots over there. So really I don't know why MESA people would be happy about this. It only means more a/c we stand to lose. With upgrades breaking the 3 year mark on the jets here I can't understand Anyone wanting to put up with J.O.'s Bull!....:(

Who the heck would want to fly over there anyway? You guys already work for dirt now you can work for all of the tea in China.

I think you missed the point, nobody wants to work there. However it does make negotiations hard when JO doesnt care what you want because he already has a place to put his planes if we walk out or push for a better contract. I see this and am already planning my escape

I am too, but I think too many aren't. I would strike tomorrow if they set it up :D I would love to see JO on his knees...wait that sounds bad

He wouldn't do that. Just drop the hiring mins and pull them right out of school. Up the captains pay a little to keep them there then give them snotty nose FOs

Your probably right and that's why I'm giving up hope quickly. I am seriously considering going to another regional just to wait for that call from a major. Some people think this time around we will get a better contract....but when has Mesa ever had a good contract?...:(
I came to the same conclusion last year, I figured too many gutless wonders on property, plus I just KNEW jo was going to pull some trick out of his sleeve...ie ship all the jets to china  |
proving runs???
I was flying over the PRC about 2 weeks ago and heard the call sign "shuttle" going into Chengdu. Whomever was talking on the radio sounded like he had an aussie accent. Any insight?
