When to Send out Resume
I am a flight instructor at Western Michigan University. I am currently working on my bachelors degree elsewhere and should be done in less than a year. I am just wondering when to send out resumes to different companies. I don't have much time 365tt 15 multi(working on getting multi) But Ive heard of people getting hired with low time. I like Comair, Horizon,ASA,Xjet,Skywest. Another instructor told me to start sending them out when im in the middle 400s Just wondering.

Don't worry about it the airlines are hiring like crazy, you can pretty much take your pick. Worry about finishing that degree.

Yup education first! Trust me it will bite you hard. One day everyone's going to need a masters. I feel that day will be soon. Military is already shifting that way.

I know of a pilot that got hired with 350+ total time, 200+ multi. Go ahead and send some resumes out. It won't hurt.....you just may get an interview. Who knows....if you show them that you are a good stick with excellent IFR skills, they will train you. A good attitude is a good asset. Be humble, but be confident in your skills.

i wonder what the heck i'd feel like w/ 200 hrs and being in a jet....I hadn't even learned how to wipe my butt, and fly at the same time yet. Much less fly and do a flight attendant @ the same time. jk....
Would seem like a helluva learning curve, move power to em. As to the original post, typical mid 400's isn't really competitive, however, at certain places it might be enough. XJT i'd be expecting a little more, along with horizon, asa, and skywest, not sure what comair is doing right now for hiring. TSA comes to mind, but ur stuck @ a crappy company, but they are doing lots of hiring, and lots of low time guys, but also lots of failures. Best of luck in your decesion and choice, also good luck w/ the degree. |
Go Broncos!
