SAAB Pilot question
Is it true that the addition of flaps on the SAAB causes an increase in Vmc?
|
Well with flaps comes drag, So I would think that it would decrease Vmc. But to much flaps and its bad no matter what... You might be decreasing Vmc but the Drag will KILL you.
|
One thing I always liked about the SAAB was the Flap Blowback, we called them autoflaps heheh I think is was like 22000psi so once it had less than that they came down, or somethin like that.

Have you ever flown a twin? Same aerodynamic factors affect all twins in the same way.

it has never been an issue. what make you wonder?

flaps vs Vmc question
There is also the "induced lift" thing to consider, no? With an effective increased camber when flaps are down (to a degree), lift will be increased. When that happens, one needs MORE aileron towards the good engine to counter roll. Increasing Vmc would be an adverse condition, (IMHO) due to an increase in induced lift of the propwash over the wing.
