10th+ percentile safe from furlough?

I was recently told that not being in the bottom 10th percentile of seniority will keep one safe from being furloughed.

Is that true?

I've read (forgot where) that no airline in the history of the industry has furloughed more than the bottom 10% that has gone on to recall them.

I think AA furloughed around 20% after 9/11

Why the heck does this matter? Percentages, while sometimes telling, are hardly foolproof in this industry. Will you feel safe when you exit the bottom 10%?

When the company goes Chapter 7, even #1 is furloughed. Ask the EA, BN, PA guys.

Being out of the bottom 10% sure worked for those guys at Comair.....
