You ever think that there might be city pairs beyond a hour flight that might not support a 737. -Apparently not.

The regional model exists because of (1) mainline pilots who sold out scope for raises (2) mainline management who took scope in bankruptcy.

This has been hashed out here ad nauseum. Most regional pilots are trying to get to mainline, not drooling over getting new contract flying handed down to them.
