Attention All MSP Airline Pilots!

Fellow Pilots: Come support your profession and your Delta brothers and sisters!

The Delta SPSC is calling all hands on deck for September 15. Informational picketing events for MSP and DTW are scheduled for September 15. We know this is short notice, but we also know that Council 1 pilots were a big reason our previous informational picketing was a success. We need you more than ever. We are currently pulling permits and don’t foresee any problems.

Those of you that were able to come out in unity for the June event will be well versed in the process. For the newcomers the highlights include:

All pilots must attend a briefing at our staging location prior to participating in picketing. (And yes you must attend the briefing even if you picketed in June.)

Staging Location: MSP ALPA offices at 7900 International Drive 6 Floor Minneapolis, MN 55425

Parking available in the attached parking garage, please use upper level.

Summer uniform to include hats and orange lanyard. If you don't have an orange lanyard, not to worry we will provide you with one.

We ask pilots to please utilize the following registration link to RSVP if planning to attend.

But last minute add on’s are welcomed, so please stop by the ALPA office before joining the picket! There will be a bus running on a schedule to and from the terminal to the ALPA office.

ALPA will provide shuttle bus service from the ALPA offices to the picketing location.

Please arrive at the ALPA offices at 7:30 a.m.; briefing starts at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Coffee, water and doughnuts will be available.

Picketing will occur between 9 a.m.-Noon with several shifts available. Pilots may picket multiple shifts and would be very helpful, so please don’t leave until the event is over.

If any pilots would be willing to help with additional logistical support tasks for the event, your SPSC is looking for approximately six volunteers who would be willing to help beyond picketing only. If you are interested please email SPSC MSP Chairman, Mike King at: [email protected]. Also, new hires are welcome to help in the office, but can’t picket. We are also looking for someone who can take pictures of the event.

At the conclusion of picketing please join us at the ALPA offices for pizza and a social hour.

All pilots are welcome, even those who belong to other councils and other airlines.

Given the current pace of negotiations, and the rapidly evolving negotiating environment, it is more important than ever to display our collective unity and resolve in achieving a market based contract that reflects the worth of our pilot group.

Fraternally,
MSP SPSC

Will letter of recommendations be offered during refreshment hour?

I wonder if mainline pilots would ever picket alongside a regional carrier on their days off? Have they?

Endeavor900 09-02-2016 09:24 PM

This is frustrating because so many Delta pilots look down their noses at the regionals. Very very rarely will they speak to us on the shuttle, or acknowledge us in anyway. It's mostly the "Deltas" Pilots that seem to do it. Last time I checked their name was Delta Air Lines, not Deltas Air Lines.

^^^^^^^^^^this let alone say hi walking through the terminal or if they will do the delta wave (turn your head the other way real fast so no eye contact is made)

Wink 09-03-2016 03:14 AM

Its amazing how many people's feelings are hurt because a Delta pilot didn't say hi to them. Do you guys also post hourly selfies on instagram to validate your existence?

ChipChelios 09-03-2016 04:26 AM

I get the picket assist but damn...for regional Guys who can't even get some love from Delta's HR for an interview...it's like fighting for the right for someone else to party 😂

B200 Hawk 09-03-2016 06:32 AM

I get the sentiment but regional pilots to picket with guys making 5-10 times as much money is just awkward.

Yep and very much yep. This is about advancing the overall profession and closing down the dark days.

What on earth are you talking about? So you can visually tell the few guys that say "Deltas" on the radio once in the terminal?

Just watch how many of you regional pilots will actually show up...have some self-esteem and spend the day with your family.

I don't think it's their feelings that are hurt but their wallets. Asking for help to make even MORE money from the very same people they sold down the river for a few more pieces of silver is deplorable. Regional F.O.'s eating tuna out of a pouch because they can't afford to go into the terminal and buy a sandwich is equally the same.

The NWA pilots don't act like they're better than everyone else. It's always the original legacy Delta pilots that seem to act that way. Hence the "Deltas" comment. It's not about them saying hi to the regional crews, it's the fact that they won't even acknowledge us and show a little respect, yet they ask for the regional pilots to picket with them. It said full uniform, hat including is to be worn. Will they look down on us at 9E if we show up and don't have a hat?

iFlyRC 09-03-2016 02:03 PM

I really don't know a darn thing about Delta. Never jumped on them, never flew as a pax, and never provided lift. All I can say is the persona they propagate, type A elitists who are better than everyone else. Then I remember I do the same exact job they do, as well as they do, with far less pay. So perhaps they are better than I because they make more money, with a better QOL? Is it really just about the image presented, being part of the "pretty person club"? Man what a stupid dribel filled post I just made, I must really be bored!

Ah, I see. Eye contact= NW. No eye contact= DL. Never realized it was that simple after all these years! You've cracked the code. How do we figure out the 4000ish that are post merger? Semi-eye contact? A hearty thumbs up??

Btw, I picketed as a 9E pilot with XJ years ago during their bankruptcy deal. NW, DL, WN, UA all came out as well.
