I think it means they want their applicants to have a diploma. We got the same info here at UD as well. Masaba contacts lots of flight schools on job openings when they're in hiring mode!

pilot_man 02-16-2007 01:23 PM

Not that I want to go to Mesa (Ive got my sights on a better place) but why does it say UND grads only, wont they hire anyone with a pulse or 300/50, whichever comes first? Or is that a different airline?

pilot_man 02-16-2007 01:25 PM

Ahh you posted that before I finished mine. Thanks.

fosters 02-16-2007 01:31 PM

You UND'ers can get off your high horse now - my school also sent out an email saying Mesaba is hiring with the same mins as posted on your internal job posting board.

Buh-Bye,
fosters

what school are you at?

AirWillie 02-16-2007 02:17 PM

This must be the worst time for pro flight schools.

Why is Mesaba hiring right now? I thought they had to figure out if they were actually getting those 900's? did NWA finally decide, if so I guess all the furlough's are recalled then?

So here is the thing. The 900's are coming. A minor issue with the NWA MEC but that is being worked. 50 Furloughs are recalled. The next vacancy is expected in a couple of weeks which should recall the rest (that are coming back). Hiring will begin after that. Mesaba is actively recruiting and interviewing, but they are not "hiring" unless into a pool as of right now. The class with the furlough recalls will begin in April. I wouldn't expect new hire classes until end of May or June.

We got a recruitment letter in the mail today too...

DMEarc 02-16-2007 06:12 PM

UND and Riddle both suck.

Sounds like someone is a little jealous.....

Aviation degrees suck. People squabbling back and forth about whose is better is like trying to find out who's the smartest retard.

sigep_nm 02-16-2007 11:29 PM

not many atp'ers chiming in;;;yeah thats what i thought

UNDGUY 02-17-2007 04:20 AM

Stop it!!

Who cares where you went to school. Guess what... they all teach the exact same material. Math is math, english is english, and aviation is aviation no matter where you are in the world or where you went to school. The longer I've been done with school the more I wish I would have listened to everyone that told me to get a degree in something else. Employers want to know about your hours and more importantly the quality of your hours.

I'm pretty happy to see another major allowing larger planes to be flown by there regional carriers. This means that pay for that many seats will be forced down even more thank you NWA pilots. I am at a regional now but want to go to a major to make major money and not to be the cheapest source for every to bit cheap hillbilly to get a cheap ride to Vegas or FL. Bye the way I work for a regional with a great contract and descent pay after the first year and we only fly 50 seaters. Atleast all those guys I know from mesaba will be back in a job but I think NWA pilots should allow anything with more than the 69seats they already allow to fly for them.

Is Mesaba still flying all those Saab's or parking them?...Will the New Hire's be going into the Saabs's or RJ's? I was thinking of Mooving myself back to MEM and this could be good news on the homefront. A MEM carrier expanding :)
