Electronic logbook

Hi everyone,

Just wondering who uses mccpilot logbook to keep track of their hours and what people think of this program vs all other electronic logbooks?

WakeWash 09-26-2016 06:36 AM

There's pretty much an industry standard for electronic logbooks. If you own a Mac, then LogTen Pro. If you own a PC then Logbook Pro.

Foreflight has a new logbook feature and it is integrated so it creates the entries from the flight tracking.

What's a good electronic logbook that can be used in an interview? Any you can print the results from?
I jot my times down in one of those small logbooks- would that be acceptable for an interview? I feel something more professional would be better?
I'm still early enough in the game I can pretty quickly enter my flights from 121 flying- don't want to wait too long and spend weeks transferring hundreds or thousands of hours!

All the above have ways to create a logbook to print it, and you can even choose what info columns you want.

Try Excel Pilot Logbook. I've been using it for over 3 years, and it is very easy to use and customize. Printing is a breeze as well because it uses a basic spreadsheet format. You only have to pay for it once as well :)

Anyone have experience with the app 'MyFlightbook'? I'm a PC user and can't justify the recurring cost of Logbook Pro

WhiskeyKilo 09-26-2016 08:27 AM

MCC Pilot log. Downloads all of my flight times directly from scheduling. All I have to do is sync once a month and everything is entered. I just go back and enter the approaches I did and that's it.

Who uses APDL with logbook pro? Does it sync with logbook pro and put your uploaded schedule into the logbook? Does it put total times onto your phone? 150 per year is pretty steep.

thanks for the info -
are these printable from the iPad or do these need to be on an actual computer?
Thx.

The last time I looked APDL does NOT sync to the Logbook Pro desktop software. Which, frankly, is shocking to me. That just seems like such an obvious feature i just don't understand how that could have been left out. Neal has said he is working on integration but so far has given no timeline for when that's coming...just an "I'm working on it."

Knowing Neal, however, when integration DOES finally happen I would definitely expect a monthly fee to allow that to happen...you know like every other damn feature of the software.

ZuluLog is web based so you can access it anywhere.

APDL Sync to LBP is very, very close. It's in private beta testing right now.

When you print it out, put it in a nice binder. I was shocked at the appearance of some e-logbooks I saw when I interviewed at JB. Have a little pride!

Have you ever used LogTen Pro? I thinking of switching over to APDL, but it's twice as expensive and I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $75/year. I also do some GA flying, is there a way to log that in APDL?

As long as I get APDL for free as a private beta tester, I won't be trying anything else. Yes, APDL does have the ability to log Part 91 flying. Once the sync goes active for all users, it'll be much better for non-121 flyers. However, most of the features are geared towards 121 flying.

Another plug for mccPilot Logbook.
They now support synched upload of Trans States schedules from Netline. This company is really customer oriented (mcc not TSA). It took them less than 2 months to get TSA's new scheduling abomination supported. I'm sure there can't be more than 50 pilots at TSA that use mccPilot, but they got it done like we were a big customer. Too bad Lufthansa doesn't support their garbage Netline like mcc supports their software...

that's great news. I still stand by the fact that it was a huge oversight that this "feature" wasn't stock from the get go...and there is no way it's not going to cost money to transfer between the two.

I use Mccpilotlog and love it. For the one time price that you pay it is hard to beat. You get to use it on multiple devices, have an online backup, use a phone app, and take advantage of their syncing software for a one time fee. As was mentioned by someone else, they are always providing updates to improve the system. I'm not sure why 90% of the thread didn't answer your question and pushed other products instead, but I don't think you would be disappointed if you decide to get Mccpilotlog.

I use LogTen Pro for Mac products and I love it. Their customer service is fantastic and I've been pleased with the product ever since 2009.

I used a printed logbook from LogTen for my interview at Delta. All you have to do is select the style you want, save it and send it to a FedEx print store. I had it printed on 8.5 x 11 card stock and had it bound and covered. Looks amazing!

It's also extremely frustrating you don't have a format to help you easily fill out Pilot Credentials. The Pro version, which I have, has the AirlineApps breakdown. Come on man there are multiple carriers who use stupid Pilot Credentials as well!

Do they want to see your paper log book from your primary training? I was thinking of just photo copying my endorsements and the pages from my check ride and bind that with my electronic printout. Will this be enough?

I use MyFlightbook. Works great. Doesn't have any of those 117 tracking feature but I don't really care for those. It's also free of course. And you can print pages from it in regular logbook format.

Blackwing 09-27-2016 08:16 PM

Another happy mccPilotLog user. It rocks.

I have confirmed with Neal that APDL sync will not cost the user more. It's always been planned this way but it took longer to developed than planned. Go to APDL.net and after logging in you'll see the Export Data link in the menu.
