Default Headset with XLR-5 (airbus plug) on the E-175

On the 175 there is a five-pin plug where where the headset jacks plug in. I believe this is for headsets with an XLR-5 or "airbus" plug which eliminates the need for batteries on an ANR headset. Just one plug is nice too.

Am I correct? Does anyone use it? I'm leaning towards a Telex 850.

Thx

I can't speak specifically for the Telex; but, I did use that plug with my Bose. I had to purchase a custom down cable from them which they make on occasion.

I would think you need to be sure the adapter plug you buy needs to handle the power from the plane properly in addition to the communication signals.

Bose and Telex make the headsets specifically with the XLR-5 plug. No adaptor needed.

I forgot to mention that it worked like a charm for years. It was great not having to carry extra batteries.

I'm looking to do the same. Let us know how you go with this.
