BART janitor grossed $270K in pay and benefits last year

Yeah, he had to pull a lot of OT to do it, probably 70 hrs total work per week or so. Big deal, my TAFB per 4 day trip is usually 80 hours. 5 day and it is 90+/wk.

I think I'm going to be sick . It is appalling how much we are taken advantage of. In the name of 'paying our dues, it'll all pay off at the majors! we take it up the arse. Note that I do NOT fault the janitor, and in fact applaud his work ethic and for taking advantage of the system. However, this guy made more than many major captains. His base pay would put him not much lower than that of a new regional capt. Yes, I know it's San Fran, and cost of living, blah blah. Sure would be nice if we got cost of living! Haha, funny I know.

Anyway, I'm going to go vent my anger at my career choice now in a 'productive' way.

lol, so you are comparing a janitor's 70 hour work week to your 80 hours TAFB 4 day? I wonder how much sympathy that janitor would have if he knew at LEAST 30 hours of that 80 hour "work" week is spent hanging out in hotel bars, watching netflix, and touching yourself. That on top of your 11-17 days off a month.

I bet that janitor doesn't have a flow thru to Waste Management.

They are never going to pay us more when people keep coming to the doors for less. Simple as that sadly. That's why you need to take your pail and play in another sandbox (career). That's what I'm doing and it is really starting to feel like I'm getting my life back; it's great.

Who cares how much he makes. I have the most awesome office view from my window at 30,000 feet. Plus, it beats working in a cubicle.
