Airplane accident on record question

Well here goes, have an accident on my record from when I flew for a part 135 cargo operation over two years ago, 60 day pilot license suspension. Left aviation and now might get back into the game. Anyone know if it is a shot in the dark getting hired at a regional with that on my record? Thanks for any info! For example, heard through the grapevine that Eagle won't touch someone like me.

My guess is that most jet regionals will want to see some flying history after the accident before they consider you. Maybe dust off the instructor ticket?

Plenty of pilots get hired at all levels with an incident in their past, it all depends on the details and your attitude towards it (what did you learn?). If you did something REALLY careless or dumb (like knowingly & blatantly busting regs), that would be worse than an act-of-god wind gust in the flare or something.

AMR of all the airlines would be the most likely to deny you for ANY kind of history. They are silly about that kind of stuff, but they are also desperate right now...

I REALLY hate to say this but I'm sure mesa would hire you...just plan on leaving in a few months so Ornstien doesn't get his money's worth out of you. :D

Anyway you'd be so willing to tell us more about the accident? If not that's cool. Some people here bite.

Sorry if this sounds callous but Mesa, and the like, would probably hire you with the record because you are less likely to leave or be able to leave. I think you can rise about it though. I heard of one guy who got hired here at Alaska a few years ago with 5 accidents. Probably not a true story though.

I can think of a few Alaskan companies who probobly view an accident history as a plus on a resume... especially if you have no college degree (even harder to go to a major).

I was just hired by a regional (Not Mesa,BlowJets,Ect) with an incident on my record and I was open and honest with them. Gave them all the paperwork I had from the event and they wanted to know what I had learned from the situation. Let your prospective airline know what you have up front and usually they will work with you. Also, even though Eagle needs pilot bad, you will have trouble getting past their pilot board. They are very sticky on certain subjects now matter how short they are.

its unfortunate, but accidents happen. Its an experience that has taught you more than any class/instructor ever could. Get back into flying and keep applying until you get a job. Majors not hiring you because of an accident??? I don't know, but I do know that there are no perfect pilots, just those that learn from their mistakes. I would recommend CFI'ing in the meantime, I am sure your recency of experience will be more of a concern than the accident at this point............anyway good luck.

P.S. Getting hired at a major nowadays has very very little to do with your record, piloting skills, more to do with networking than anything

best of luck with the regionals, i personally see some good decesion making in the accident, and the unfortunate "act of god" which will always be labled by the FAA as pilot error.

PS-

Dont' remember this accident, but those were my old stomping grounds. Did many a x-c to OJC, IXD, and MCI. My first long solo x/c was IXD/SGF/9k4...hehe.
