New uniforms at AA WO problems?

Saw something in the news about AA uniforms causing rashes and allergic reactions. It seemed like it was mostly FA that had issues but curious if any pilots had problems?

sweetholyjesus 12-03-2016 07:01 PM

I'm not even AA WO and their uniforms gave me diabetes.

I guess that's better than cancer

PSASUX 12-04-2016 03:00 AM

The problem is that some of the people are allergic to the material in the uniforms. But instead of a simple fix, AA and TwinHills are making them jump through hoops to prove it and it is taking a very long time to exchange the uniforms.

That escalated quickly.

Do the WO's provide the uniforms or do you pay for them out of pocket?

First born son is acceptable payment

The uniforms at Envoy Air make me physically sick. When I see a crew with these outfits on in the terminal, it reminds me of:

4 on 2 off
4am pre assigned RAPs
Big time bonuses for the new hires with a paycut in year 2, 3, 4, etc.
Lost overnights in GSO
Awful reserve rules
Horrible treatment by crew scheduling
Multiple reserve turn backs after the contract says only one is allowed
Horrible and punitive treatment by management
Constant junior man assignments, read, your life doesn't belong to you

When I see Envoy crews, they look beat up, downtrodden, bags under their eyes and ready to give up. All of this for the hope of.....flowing.

pitpalacul 12-04-2016 08:20 AM

I had a FA that had to go to the ER ... her allergic reaction was from the jaw down...
I used to joke about it. Not any more...

First year at PSA the pilot gets uniform cost taken from their paycheck. Each subsequent year they get a $400 uniform allowance that accumulates years after year. Pays for everything but the wrist watch.

PSA help 12-04-2016 09:24 AM

For us that were already on property, they were provided free.

There is nothing wrong with the uniforms that I have seen. The shirts are junk (seriously...new hires...DO NOT BUY THE SHIRTS THROUGH THE COMPANY!). They are thin and not made well. Even the $15 Van Heusen's are much better. ACutAbove are great.

But the rest of it is fine. Cheaply made in foreign countries, as you would expect, but no major issues.

One ply toilet paper is thicker, they have a very low thread count and are virtually see through.

They are very thin and poorly made. The buttons are barely sewn on, and sometimes in the wrong spot. My long sleeved shirt doesn't have a hole cut for the button on the wrist and the sleeves appear to be sewn on incorrectly.

You can see right through it.

If you already ordered them, check them out. They may be better now. But, if not, just send them back. Even if you just get credit, that is better than nothing.

Not good...thanks for the info. I been hearing mixed feed back in regards to wearing company issued shirts or going with a better brand ...I guess for the folks on probation probably be good idea just to stick with company uniform ?

Or maybe they remind you that you got fired.

I gave a 2 week notice and resigned for a better opportunity. However, if I was indeed fired from that lousy outfit, I would look at it as a blessing.

PSA help 12-04-2016 11:06 AM

We just have to wear a white pilot shirt. Clean. It doesn't matter where it comes from.

Try ironing these tissues
Or when putting our wings, they forgot to match the holes, so you have one pin in a hole the other through the shirt.

E175 Driver 12-04-2016 05:04 PM

I like our uniforms. They are the same as AA plus we get to wear the lanyard.

Irishblackbird 12-04-2016 09:28 PM

Are you allowed to where the leather jacket from the old uniform, or are you required to buy a new jacket? Is the hat required?

At PSA we are not allowed to wear the leather jacket.

Envoy can, it's in the contract.

I stand corrected

Not at PSA, it was specifically banned in exchange for the company paying for the new uniform allotment.

Our contract still specifies leather jacket.

Read LOA 8. Specifically states that PSA pilots may not wear the leather jacket.

A friend of mine at PDT says they can wear leather jackets if they want. You would think all 3 WO's would have the same Uniform policy.......Guess not.

Line holder here with weekends off.

Sorry.

Throttlebender 12-06-2016 10:12 AM

New style uniforms initial rollout were paid for by the company.

That's an outright lie. According to your posting history you haven't been there even close to long enough for that to be possible. Despite you not having any credibility to begin with, this just further ruins anything for you.
