Electronic Logbook
Looking for some more recent feedback, most of the archived stuff is from yesteryear. Not interested in LogTen, since I have primarily Windows devices.
Like Excel, since I can just use it on any device, no subscription, and can modify if necessary. Can have it backed up on hard drive and cloud. Looking at getting the following, but holding off to see if anyone is using a comparable setup that won't cost me $40: https://excelpilotlogbook.com/faa-am...pilot-logbook/ Anyone have any app suggestions or good excel templates that they'd be willing to share? |
Honestly, I've used this from the start and never looked backed. Seem less integration from all logbooks and great ui. Here's a link to a free trial and no, I don't work for them lol. Just good stuff!

I should add, since I forgot to in the original post, that I've seen the APC excel template. Hoping to find something a bit more polished. Thanks.

Google Sheets (in the cockpit) and Excel FTW. PM sent.

I like myflightbook.com.
It's free and has excellent search and report creation functionality. (Makes it easier to fill out airline apps.) You can export backups to Excel. (For a small fee, the site will automatically backup your logbook nightly to your cloud account.) If you have some basic Excel skills, it's easy to import your existing logbook and flight time reports from your company. It's certainly worth a look if you like using Excel but want something a bit more sophisticated. |
Been using https://www.flylogio.com
Free and has mobile app. |
I second mccPILOTLOG
|
Third mccpilotlog
Cheap but good Kind of like my women. |
MCC Pilot Log. Can import everything I flew for the month and I just select PF or PM, and approaches and it figures out the rest.

http://www.safelogweb.com/PilotTellA...52aXRlcj10cnVl This thing is amazing. Very tunable and will give you airlineapps ready data... Syncs on all my MS an iOS devices with a click and internet connection. SafeLog FTW Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Another vote for mccPilotLog, here.
And on the topic of logging PF/PM, I'm new to flying 121...is logging PF/PM necessary or important? I haven't been logging that, but I'm not so far along yet that it wouldn't be insurmountable to go back and are that to my logbook. |

SafeLog FTW Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 1. mcc will connect to most airline computer systems and pull the data straight from the airlines system to populate the log book. You will have to enter PF or PM and instrument time and landings. The rest is done for you. 2. The price is around $80 for lifetime. $300 is a little too high to spend for less options. The $80 will get multiple computers and apps as well as cloud backup and the airline interface. |

Two things that I see different from mccPILOTLOG.

If any of these it can import directly into SafeLog Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
He's not talking about converting from one logbook to another. He's referring to a logbook being able to login to a company website (Sabre, Flica, what have you) and download flight times stored in the company database by ACARS, which is an automated system that talks between the aircraft and company. One can log into a website and view times. But some logbooks can also extract data from said company websites.

Gotcha. If SafeLog can't extract from that then I will definitely be changing. Once I'm at the airlines, I don't plan on being in my logbook too much. Just to keep helicopter currency really Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
The flight time is the same, either way. What changes is the landings and the instrument approaches. You should only log an instrument approach and/or T/O & LDG if you are the PF. CatII approaches being the caveat to that one, IMO.

It's really very simple. I input each flight into my phone (Google sheet) after the shutdown check is complete as I wait for pax to leave. Copy/paste it into Excel when I get home from a trip. Takes hardly any time at all. My Excel has every bit of info I can think of for an airline app, plus calculates annual per diem deduction for me using both base rate and location rates (to see which is more advantageous tax-wise).

If you don't mind a bit of advice from an old-timer; keep your paper logs up to date as well. It's worth the extra effort. I log my 121, helo and glider on both safelog and a large paper logbook I keep at home.
After about a year of electronic, my paper logbook is now hiding from me. My plan is to get a new one printed through a company with my existing electronic info pre-printed and keep that one updated as well. Thanks! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
MCCpilot here. You can take a picture of every page in your paper log and send them to a company in Canada and they will send back a digital file of your time to import. I think MCC has a link to them.

What do they charge for this service? |
I thought this thread died off. Thanks for all the replies and PMs everyone, lots of options to go through. Glad I asked, as a few of these aren't even mentioned in the older posts I was looking at.

I would also like to know more about this service. Might be worth not having to put in ~1000 hours of entries. Logbook Binders | mccPILOTLOG |
