New regional bases
I know it's next to impossible to determine who will open/close their next pilot base, however does anyone care to speculate on their personal thoughts on the matter?
Some say Skywest will close Houston. PSA just announced today DCA. I heard that it's possible that ZW will consolidate down to two domiciles. If someone was to open BNA, who would you guesstimate that to be? Any other rumblings of new bases and/or future closures? Thanks everyone! |
SkyWest might open a Boise base. That's been the rumor for awhile. SkyWest closing or keeping Houston open will depend on what happens with Mesa and Republic and Skywest E175s.
BNA? Not sure but it's a SkyWest maintenance base and they have a lot of planes fly in and out of there, but I'm not sure that it makes sense as a crew base for them. |
ZW rumored BNA, MKE and CAE when they announced the closure of LGA. Highly unlikely for any of those though. 9e has been teasing ATL; CVG and RDU for a while. ATL is imminent though, rumored sometime in 2017. The commuitair guys have been saying ORD possibly as well as they take more expressjet flying

For a while, I've heard rumors of Endeavor and a southern base like Raleigh or Atlanta, however, at the Halloween BBQ, the COO mentioned something along the lines of, "We have no plans to open up a new base at the moment, and even if we did, it definitely would not be Atlanta. It would be Cincinnati."
