Question about interview call

If they left you a voicemail asking you if you'd like to be interviewed on a certain date, but if you can't make that date, would they take that as no or would most companies give you another date?? I don't want them to think that I'm refusing the interview, but the interview date they mentioned is way too close.. I would not be able to prepare for an airline interview in five days!!

By any chance would this be with Piedmont. I also got a call for an interview next week. Kind of short notice but I'm going to go for it anyhow. Who knows when they will have another class.

yeah! I'm so excited because PDT is actually my top choice (my home is 10 mins away from LGA). Well, I hadn't applied to anywhere else yet anyways. Talk about short notice... I don't even know if I can take off a day from work. Did you accept the invite right away or ask if they had any other interview dates?

Most larger airlines would give you another date, but I would tell them you have a work conflict...not that you are clueless  You might tell them that you have a work conflict that would be difficult (but not impossible) to get out of and ask for a later date...if they can't or won't do that you could always attend the original date and try to cram.

Smaller companies might not have the flexibility to give you another date...they might just hire whoever can show up.

Now that you are in the zone to get called for interviews, you should be in a continous study mode, have you documents and suit ready, etc. You don't want to miss out on a job or some seniority cuz you couldn't do a short-notice interview...short notice interviews often result in immediate job offers.

Good point, but PDT isn't hiring nearly as vigorously as XJT, so the damage there would be much less.

70 numbers isn't that much at a huge regional like XJet, but even 10 numbers could be a big deal at a smaller operation, especially if they don't hire much after you!

I just got off the phone with Tamara (excuse the spelling if its incorrect). I accepted the interview for next week. It will absolutely be a tight squeeze trying to be 100% prepared but I really dont want to turn them down. You never know when the next class will be. I have an interview at Eagle in early March so I have been studying right along. The only thing is reading recent gouges about Piedmont interviews aren't too promising. It seems like the written has changed and focusing more on the AIM. I have been going through the Everything Explained book and it seems to be pretty good. Then again, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they went back to the old written or something not so ridiculous... but that might be wishful thinking. Good luck to you in what you decide to do. If you ask for a later date because you think you will be more prepared and will get hired go for it, but if it is because you're working that day I would call in sick. Go Yankees!

Nah, the written is going to be the 4th revision made by the AQP guys in CLT...its pretty much the same as the other writtens, but they did change it up a little bit...don't forget to study some company info
