EXJ question
Where do they do interviews? Is it against rules to call and see if they can see you if you're going to be in that town anyway?
|
Do you mean Express Jet? Every thing is in house at IAH/Houston.
Just get in line or get your stuff walkd in. How much cash do you got? I can walk it in for ya! |

Yes i'm flying into houston on the 28th on my way snowskiing. I have a layover from 8am till 3:45pm. Figured while there I would put the suit on and swing by if they didn't mind. I've never had to interview for a job before so I'm not 100% on what proper etiquette is. I know they schedule interviews but not if I could call and schedule one while I'm there.
X-Jet is hirring 90+ guys a month, you'll have to get in line like everyone else. only if you know jamie youll get in that easy/hired. |

Like anything, it never hurts to ask but I would be fully prepared to be asked to wait for the call/scheduled time. It wouldn't cost you anything except time because there is a free momentum air shuttle every 20 minutes... Good luck and let us know what happens. |

You can try...and more power to ya if they let you in... My guess is you wont get far... Interviews are scheduled on specific days at specific times. If not on one of those days/times, HR folks keep quite hidden in their offices and i don't imagine they are ready for a walk-in.

Even if they agreed to it, you won't be there long enough for the whole process. It's an all day deal. Besides that, interviewing is not something you do on a whim. You need to prep for it - you can't just wing it.

Get a clue. Its not mickey Ds. You don't swing by "on your way" to the mall, skiing, whatever, and see if someone will talk to you. Besides, what makes you think you get to cut in front of all the other folks who have been waiting their turn?

You'll be stopped by the two great looking girls working at the front desk
I'd just wait if i were you |

I think that says it all right there. There are those that have to work for it, and there are those that are always handed it.

Either way its pretty ignorant to assume that much about somebody based on an ananymous forum. |
Even though I don't think it would either help or hurt, I can't find anything wrong with ToiletDuck's attitude. Looks like he/she's a go-getter who doesn't wait to be handed anything.
That said, I would guess that Xjet would not want everyone who's interested to drop-in un-announced as they are already swamped with applicants. |
The main thing with ExpressJet like other airlines is having a recommendation from anther XJT pilot. I waited like three months and didn't hear anything. Then one of my friends recommended me and I got the email a week later. Who knows...but it is an awesome company so far.

Toilet PM me, Ill walk your stuff in, you just have to buy me a beer when we meet up and you thank me ;)

I said "swing by" but give a little credit fire. I know some places, like skywest who do the group interviews, allow you to meet in person and if they get a good feel they extend an interview invite. The original intention was to give a call and see if I could meet up. I completely understand that isn't going to happen so it's a dead subject.

Yeah, that's ACTUALLY at the airport in terminal C. Or used to be. |
You have the right attitude, but it doesn't work that way at a big airline. Try meeting with a chief pilot, assistant chief, training instructor/manager, etc. Make some calls; tell them you are interested in Express and will be in the area. Try to get an appointment to talk to someone about a job there. Get shown around and learn about the company. I think they call it an "informational interview"; you interview the employer to learn about the company and decide if you want to work there. It can't hurt, unless you make yourself look bad in the process. That's up to you. Good luck.

Good point Otto. Toilet you should attempt this. Don't let the jealous of others kill your motivation. The worst that could happens is them saying they can not see you at that time. |

I'm glad you know how much time I have in my logbook. Thanks for your kind encouragement...man.
Careerpilot what is the lowest time I should wait to send my resume. I'm currently working in building my time. I'm standing at TT390 & MT 27 with a 4-years B.S degree in Aeronautical Science. Eagle is the regional I will like to fly for. Thanks for any advice If any eagle pilot needs extra $500 you can refer me |

I think quite the opposite is true. Toilet Duck has already expressed that he has been aggresive with his job hunting in the past. Luck is where oppurtunity meets preperation. He is going out of his way to try and get in with express. If he wanted to just be handed something he'd probably sit at home like everybody else waiting for their number to be called.
Either way its pretty ignorant to assume that much about somebody based on an ananymous forum. - Don't be too pushy or obnoxious or you'll get blacklisted. - Be prepared for a full interview, just in case they ask you a few random questions. |

I agree with this. I have NEVER gotten a job in aviation by waiting for the phone to ring (might work with mesa or eagle nowdays). TD, the odds of you actually getting an interview on the spot are slim, but if you manage to get some face-time with a recruiter, interviewer, or CP (like Otto said) that might put your resume at the top of the stack.
