Default Question for pilots based at LGA.

Looking for a place to live in NY.
What are the options for a new hire FO considering we will make around $2800 a month roughly based on min guarantee on reserve ?

Renting an apartment?
Sharing an apartment?
Crash pads ?

Single guy in mid 20's.
Still needs to complete & pass the whole training process but just trying to plan ahead.

Thanks for helping out guys

Feel free to pm me. You could find a few guys from new hire and rent a place. It depends if you like big city life or want to move a little further out. There's some nice areas just over an hour from LGA.

No it isn't. A lot of the nicer areas are all wrong side of the tracks now. Safe expensive areas are now no longer safe. When I lived in Wicker Park it was fine. Expensive nice area Full of professionals with little kids in the park. Now there is shootings in the street now right in front of my old building, the park is overrun with drug addicts after dark and constant crime in the area. It took all of 5 minutes visiting the area a few months ago to see the change. My friends still live there and can't get out fast enough. I'm sure some areas and the suburbs are fine but the urban areas have gone way downhill.

I didn't say its the worst in America. I said it's turning into a crime zone. Which it is.

Which means the prices are falling!

Don't count on them coming to envoy. Very unlikely. We may see a few, but AAG is scoped out right now.

AAG has lots of CRJ 700 with 67 seats flying around counting as large RJs. If they remove 2 seats, they become small RJs under scope and 175 options can be exercised.

175 options have not been announced as of yet, but AA is not exactly scoped out if they convert the 700's.

Living in NY is expensive. On your budget you are probably looking at renting a room with roommates. I have done this through Craig'slist in the past or try and get together with other new hires. Renting a room should be about $600-700. Look into areas around queens or forest hills to be near LGA. Astoria is a fun area. You can take bus or uber to work. Don't require a car living in the city. You can save there. Crash pads run around 250-300 around NY.
