Right now the flow is a good thing, and probably will be for the foreseeable future. But flowups also mean flow backs when times are tough. Just ask those original Eagle guys from the late 90's/2000 how it worked. Similar happened to Mesaba guys?

If your options are furlough with no job, or furlough with a guaranteed job as a senior captain at a regional, I would take the flowback every time. Especially because you would just flow back up later and keep your longevity, just like if you were furloughed.
Which would you rather have?

I can't speak for all of the contracts, but flowbacks are not really a thing in the contracts anymore. There is nothing wrong with flowbacks if the economy turns.

Wait, flow isn't working like you thought it would? Welcome to the airline world of bait and switch. These people taught Bernie Madoff everything he knows, Frank Lorenzo was just a copy-cat.

Perhaps airlines have a certain appreciation for pilots who oppose trade unionism and willingly undercut their fellow pilots, all while fiercely believing in your company brand as though it were a cult and adoring management as your personal lord and savior. I don't know, I could be wrong.

You people are crazy. My flow is progressing exactly as expected. I'll be heading up to AA this year, 6.5 years after I started. As we add more pilots that longevity number will average 5-6 years.

It's kind of funny but have you noticed those that are complaining about the flow programs are the ones that aren't part of one? That should tell you something.
Today at a regional you want Stability, Low Upgrade Times, Good Pay, Movement for QOL. American WO's offer all 3. If you don't want to go to American you don't have too. However if by chance you get turned down by United and Delta you still have a job for sure at the Worlds Largest Airline.
Yes I can see how someone not part of that Program might be envy.
